The city of Newark, New Jersey refused to allow filming in city limits.
A lot of the cast also appeared in the TV show New York Undercover.
Though set in Newark New Jersey, the majority of the movie was filmed in Brooklyn, NY.
The scene where Midget is in the police chase in his van with his cronies that leave him and another woman dead is loosely based on an incident in 1991 in New Jersey with 7 youths inside in a police chase. Just like the 1991 incident with a starter's gun inside the van, Midget also had a starter's gun starting the middle of the film.
Released on the same day as the Oklahoma City bombing.
