Several cast members from A League of Their Own (1992) reprised their roles for the television series. The most prominent are Megan Cavanagh and Tracy Reiner, who reprised their roles as Marla Hooch and "Betty Spaghetti" Horn, respectively. Jon Lovitz (Ernie Capadino), Garry Marshall (Walter Harvey), Pauline Brailsford (Miss Cuthbert), and Freddie Simpson (Ellen Sue Gotlander) also made return appearances. In addition, Penny Marshall (the film's director) directed the pilot episode, while Tom Hanks (Jimmy Dugan in the film) directed the episode "The Monkey's Curse".
In the movie, Kit had been traded to the Racine Belles and helped the team win the World Series. However, in the TV show, which takes place the season after the one in film, she is back with the Peaches.
