Damn snakes, turtles everywhere and they got up to that damn log and they know'd every knot hole in it, everything about it. One of 'em got at one end and one of 'em got at the other and they got a knot hole man there. Mutt Kagle had a army belt in his teeth. reached inside that damn thing and they tickled that damn cat fish, got him started toward the big end and Mutt Kagle grabbed him right in the damn jaws like that and HELD HIS ASS INSIDE THAT LOG! He started dancin'. Took that army belt out of his teeth and stuck it in his mouth and back out through his gills, brought it around and put it right back through the buckle and tied it around his hand one time. Then he pulled the fish out. We had some sportsmanship then... in a hell of a hurry. You wanna go this year? You'll enjoy this when you wake up.

- [dragging him off the railroad tracks]
- Will Haney: You pretty near bought the farm, you drunken old son of a bitch.

- [laughing and drinking]
- Will Haney: You lay around on them railroad tracks and you'll have no legs, by golly.
- Hobo: Well, at least I would have matched set.

- Leo Pickett: [looking at historic picture of a train engine] They don't make em like that any more, do they Haney?
- Will Haney: That's a fact, Boss. That's a fact.
- Leo Pickett: Kinda like being outlaws, huh? Out here roughin' it around, like Bonnie and Clyde.
- Will Haney: Leo, who you gonna be? Bonnie or Clyde.
- Everett: May I please marry Charlotte again, sir?
- Charlotte: See daddy, this is the ring he gave me;
- Will Haney: That's the same ring he gave you last time.
- Charlotte: Yeah, but he had it cleaned.
- Will Haney: [to Everett] OK, son, You can marry her again but I'll tell you this. If you sadden or hurt her this time I will find you, son, and I will beat you until your head is soft and mushy.
- Sheriff Maxie Howell: Now I just got one question for y'all. Why in the world would Haney and Leo wan to go and steal a train for?
- Rose Pickett: Because they flipped their damned lids, that's why.
- Jean Haney: Now, they didn't steal the train.
- Rose Pickett: No, they didn't steal a train.
- Sheriff Maxie Howell: Now, ladies... well, I... I've got very few options as to how to get your menfolk back to you.
- Jean Haney: Oh, well, listen. Don't put yourself out. I mean, it wasn't that big a thing.
- Sheriff Maxie Howell: Now... in this particular situation... well, I can only think of one legal option. Since they stole a train.
- Jean Haney, Rose Pickett: They didn't steal a train!
- Sheriff Maxie Howell: I'll put out an APB on 'em for grand theft!
- Thomas Clinton: Lucy, these gentlemen are kidnapping me. Don't call the police. Just tell Warren what's happened.
