    BAD TITLE,GOOD FILM

A remake of SHIVERING SHERLOCKS(1948),with the "clam chowder scene" cut out for new footage. A new opening scene DOES establish that The Stooges SAW Kenneth Mac Donald and can identify him---as innocent bystanders they walk right into a shoot out between cops and robbers.

And there's one new joke that I find hilarious---don't ask me why

MOE:"I tell you,he went into that deserted house!"

    SHEMP:"I don't like deserted houses".

LARRY:"Why not? Maybe we'll get dessert!"

The stock footage lie detector scene remains hilarious. Any other jobs for Angel you can think of? I know some telephone solicitors who won't stop pestering me.

    Tired, slapdash and unfunny

Notwithstanding Shemp's attempts to inject some life into it, this sloppy, hastily thrown together short is definitely NOT one of their better ones. Columbia was phasing out its shorts department--it shut down altogether just three years after this was made--and wasn't putting any effort at all into the Stooges' products. This short consists mostly of painfully obvious stock footage from Shivering Sherlocks (1948) with some cheaply shot new footage thrown in the mix. Don't waste your time on this thing and watch the original instead.

Great remake, way better than the original

This remake was a great remake of "Shivering Sherlocks" and way better. This adds new footage that is funnier and ups the grade a lot. The plotholes that were in "Shivering Sherlocks" have been fixed. There is also a new ending that is better than in "Shivering Sherlocks". Overall: B+

    Good Stooges short!

The Three Stooges has always been some of the many actors that I have loved. I love just about every one of the shorts that they have made. I love all six of the Stooges (Curly, Shemp, Moe, Larry, Joe, and Curly Joe)! All of the shorts are hilarious and also star many other great actors and actresses which a lot of them was in many of the shorts! In My opinion The Three Stooges is some of the greatest actors ever and is the all time funniest comedy team!

This is a good Three Stooges short! The Stooges are very good in it so is Christine McIntyre, Kenneth MacDonald, Frank Lackteen, Vernon Dent, Duke York, and Cy Schindell. Its quite good to watch around Halloween time! There is another similar like this Three Stooges short with alternate scenes called Shivering Sherlocks.

    • Goofs
In the original short (Shivering Sherlocks), Gladys (Christine McIntyre) owns the Elite Cafe and takes on the Stooges as workers, where they later stumble across the armored car robbers who are living on the property she is hoping to sell. In this remake of that short, the Stooges run the cafe, and while chasing one of the crooks, Gladys simply walks into the diner with no explanation as to who she is or what she is doing there.
