Paramount Plus has released the official trailer for “The Offer,” the upcoming drama miniseries that chronicles the making of “The Godfather.”
Set in the early 1970s, “The Offer” stars Miles Teller as Albert S. Ruddy, who is hired as the producer for the film adaptation of the best-selling novel “The Godfather,” written by Mario Puzo (played by Patrick Gallo). While the series faces typical behind the scenes tension between its director Francis Ford Coppola (Dan Fogler) and producing team, the filming grows more complicated when mob boss Joe Colombo (Giovanni Ribisi) signs on to help assist in the production. In addition to Teller, Gallo, Fogler and Ribisi, the series will also star Matthew Goode, Juno Temple, Burn Gorman and Colin Hanks.

HBO Max has added four great actresses to the second season of its acclaimed comedy “Hacks,” with Laurie Metcalf, Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen and Margaret Cho coming aboard.
While details about their roles have not been disclosed, Metcalf, Kelly and Wen will each join as recurring guests, and Cho will make at least one guest appearance.
Per the “Hacks” Season 2 logline, “The dark mentorship between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her young, entitled writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) continues to evolve as the two travel across the country workshopping Deborah’s new stand-up act.”
Of course, if you remember what happened just before the cut to black at the end of Season 1, you know things are probably very, very awkward between Deborah and Ava.
A three-time Emmy-Winner for “Roseanne” and Best Supporting Actress Oscar-winner for “Lady Bird,” Metcalf has also won eight Tony awards among her many accolades.

Carrie Fisher once told Meryl Streep, “Take your broken heart, make into art.”
If we’re putting “scammed for almost two years by a friend-turned-lover with a completely fabricated identity” under the umbrella of broken heart, then writer-actor Iliza Shlesinger has nailed the assignment.
Her new Netflix feature “Good on Paper” marked its streaming premiere last week and has remained a Top 10 holdover on the service as America approaches Independence Day weekend. The film tells the wild, mostly true story of how the comedian was duped after a meet-cute on an airplane.
“He was just sitting next to me, and we started talking and really got along. He was a nice, preppy hedge fund type. My boyfriend was picking me up from that flight, and his girlfriend was picking him up. We exchanged Twitter handles and I invited him and the girlfriend to one of my shows,” Shlesinger recalled to Variety.

This weekend, the strong $70 million opening for “F9” dominated theatrical box office headlines. Streaming stories lack that clarity; opaque platform reporting makes it impossible for any single title to dominate. However, with fewer films released in theaters — two titles sold 77 percent of this weekend’s tickets — VOD’s diversity may reflect a greater share of the movie business.
This week saw standout performances for “Nobody” (Universal) and “Demon Slayer – Mugen Train” (Funimation) each taking two #1 spots on the four charts we track. Netflix’s $18 million domestic-only deal for Liam Neeson acquisition “The Ice Road” seems to have paid off with a top slot. Totals for Pixar’s “Luca” are unknown, but figure it is strong at Disney+; the studio’s “Cruella” also shows well as a new $29.99 Premium VOD.

Photo: 'Good on Paper’/Netflix Meet Cute Gone Wrong New to Netflix this week is the rom-com-thriller hybrid, ‘Good on Paper’ from director-actress Kimmy Gatewood who appears in television series such as ‘Glow’ and ‘Atypical’. The film is written by its star, comedian Iliza Shlesinger, and is loosely based on a true story, a story that “began with a lie”. The film follows Andrea, a stand-up comic played by Shlesinger, who falls for Dennis, a smart, successful businessman played by Ryan Hansen, but soon Dennis begins to seem too good to be true. ‘Good on Paper’ is a film that is very uneven — while offering some unique elements that are both unexpected and welcomed, the film struggles at times to find its groove and figure out exactly what kind of film it wants to be by the time the credits roll. The film is not without its merits, excelling...

Messiness is essentially the theme of Kimmy Gatewood’s “Good on Paper,” so it’s fitting the director and actress’ feature filmmaking debut is just that: messy. Not that it’s lacking charm, mostly care of star and screenwriter Iliza Shlesinger, who gamely co-opts her own notoriety and crazy stories to offer up an anti-rom-com with some sage insights about both modern romance and the stand-up comedy game. And yet, despite a clever idea at its heart — a serial dater meets a guy who seems too good to be true, a concept Shlesinger mined from her own bad dating experiences — “Good on Paper”

Skilled comedian Iliza Shlesinger is proving to be quite the formidable force for Netflix. After carrying a handful of raucous standup comedy specials, headlining an uproarious sketch show and popping up in supporting roles in “Spenser Confidential” and “Pieces of a Woman,” she returns to the streamer, ascending to leading lady status in her self-penned feature “Good on Paper.”
The romantic comedy, loosely based on her real-life experiences as well as the standup routine that’s innovatively integrated throughout, is centered on a woman who begrudgingly decides to let down her guard when it comes to relationships, only to be confronted with a problematic guy who’s more slippery than safe. Containing razor-sharp witticisms about feminine intuition, gendered sexual politics and relationships (both platonic and romantic), it excels beyond its self-deprecating title.

Good On Paper (2021), L to R: Iliza Shlesinger as Andrea Margaret Cho as Margot, and Ryan Hansen as Dennis Photo Cr. Alex Lombardi / Netflix
Iliza Shlesinger is one of the funniest comedians on the planet. I’ve watched her comedy special multiple times on Netflix and she is without a doubt a Laugh Riot!! Listen to her thoughts about single and married life in your 20’s and 30’s.
Shlesinger has a film debuting on Netflix on June 23rd called Good On Paper. Check out the trailer.
Andrea Singer always put her stand-up career first, and while dating came easy, love wasn’t a priority… that is until she meets Dennis, a quirky nerd with disarming charm who coaxes her into letting her guard down. Her best friend Margot isn’t convinced he’s all he seems and she urges Andrea to embark on a wild goose chase to uncover who Dennis really is.

Life, death, and concepts of love entwine in the film “Grace and Grit.” Set among a period that prided itself on self-discovery among ubiquitous overindulgence, the project amplifies one attempt at understanding human connections. Based on the book by Ken Wilber, this true story recreates the details that followed Wilber and wife Treya’s heartbreaking journey.

"He always has the perfect answer for everything." Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a romantic comedy titled Good on Paper, that's both written by and starring Iliza Shlesinger as a successful, lonely comedian named Andrea Singer. After years of putting her career first, a stand-up comic meets a guy who seems perfect: smart, nice, successful and possibly too good to be true. Based on a mostly true story, Good on Paper is written by and stars the hilariously sharp-witted Shlesinger, with Ryan Hansen, Margaret Cho, Tyler Cameron, Taylor Hill, and Rebecca Rittenhouse. Shlesinger explains: "I wanted to write something funny, unique, and relatable. A comedian turns real life into art, so I shared my bizarre story and had fun doing it. What started as a cathartic release became a passion project that I put a lot of comedy and heart into." This looks cute and funny, though not...

Is comedienne Iliza Shlesinger‘s Hollywood star ascending? The 2008 winner of NBC‘s “Last Comic Standing” hasn’t exactly left the limelight since that win over ten years ago, but her career has recently begun to heat up. With five comedy specials on Netflix to her name and “The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show” premiering on the service on April Fool’s Day 2020, it’s safe to say that Netflix sees something in the comedian.
