Can you believe it’s been over a decade since Spartacus first brought its blood-soaked, action-packed drama to our screens? Back in 2010, this hit show redefined the historical epics with its unapologetic intense storytelling and raw actions. Though Gladiator and Rome did lay the groundwork for sword-and-sandal greatness, Spartacus intensified the level, delivering four seasons of unforgettable action.
Of course, it wasn’t just the on-screen drama that had us hooked to our screens, behind the scenes, the heartbreaking loss of Andy Whitfield after Season 1 broke our hearts. But the series persevered, with Liam McIntyre stepping in to finish this epic saga of the Thracian rebel leader.
A still from Spartacus (Credits- Starz)
And the legacy of the legendary storyline has now returned once again with the upcoming spinoff, Spartacus: House of Ashur. Reportedly, Starz is revisiting the story but with an added twist, what if Ashur, the scheming underdog...

When música mexicana star Xavi started working on his debut album, he told Rolling Stone that he had two goals in mind: He said it was “going to be straight corridos, respecting our style,” and that it was his mission to make the album “the best.” If you ask Xavi now, he’ll tell you he achieved both goals.
On Friday, Xavi released his 15-track debut, Next, which hears the singer doing something he calls “fusionizing” the genre with pop sounds — even ska — while staying true to the romantic corrido...

The American TV-movie has gained a bad rap over the years, but there was a time when folks looked forward to these flicks — and not in an ironic sense or a need to hate-watch.
That period of kinder and less cynical viewership was surely in the 1970s and ’80s when the made-for-television movie became more widespread. The “movie of the week” format took off in the former decade, with the major networks at the time devoting blocks in their schedules to these standalone, small-screen features. And one of the more revisited genres was horror. Duel, The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Trilogy of Terror, Are You in the House Alone?, The Initiation of Sarah. These are just a few of the classic telefilms that scared a whole generation of viewers.

The Office completely revolutionized the mockumentary-style sitcom genre. The show, which was adapted from the same-titled British series, debuted in 2005 and ran for nine seasons. However, despite having a sizable fan base that continued to this day, the show had its fair share of embarrassing moments. One that specifically features Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesley (Jenna Fischer) at the forefront.
John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer in The Office || NBC
The duo was an embodiment of couple goals on the show. However, some of their earlier interactions on the show might raise concerns. In one particular scene in question, Jim was blamed for crossing a major line. But was he the only one at fault?
Jenna Fischer’s Pam Under Fire for Playing the Victim in a Particular The Office Scene
The hit show ended in 2013, but several scenes and plots are echoed by fans even to this day.

In 2022, right after he signed to Interscope, Mexican American singer Xavi was feeling on top of the world. He was 17 years old and his songs were getting some buzz, so to celebrate, he bought a Dodge Srt with his label advance. He’d been speeding down a small road in California when he suddenly lost control of the wheel and crashed, fracturing his skull and falling into a coma for days.
Xavi spent months in the hospital. “It’s a miracle to be here, man,” he says now, looking down at his hands.

It’s possible to divide American history into two eras: before the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln and after. Before John Wilkes Booth fatally shot Lincoln at a performance of “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theater on April 15, 1865, assassination simply wasn’t a part of the national conscience. For all the political disputes of America’s 18th and early 19th centuries, straight up killing the other guy wasn’t seen as a possibility, let alone an option. Lincoln’s murder marked the transition to an America where, mathematically speaking, 9% of all sitting Presidents have been assassinated. And they say logging is a dangerous job.
The TV show “Manhunt” on Apple TV+, premiering March 15, tells the story of how Booth evaded capture for twelve days after killing Lincoln, but it’s also a dramatization of the first few weeks of the post-assassination era of American history — the era in which we live today.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the finale of HBO’s The Idol.
HBO’s controversial series The Idol came to an end on Sunday, and it certainly threw a wrench in the story that the show appeared to be telling across the first four episodes.
Episode 5, titled “Jocelyn Forever,” reveals that Lily-Rose Depp’s pop star character had the reins the entire time, even when she led everyone to believe she was being manipulated by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye).
“I think a lot of the audience will watch maybe the first few episodes and think that this guy is taking advantage of her,” Depp said in a segment about the making of the finale. “By the end he realizes that she knows exactly what he’s doing and she knows exactly what she’s doing.”
The episode opens with quite a bit of tension, as Jocelyn has become hostile toward Tedros.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Movie? covering Videodrome was Written by Jake Dee, Narrated by Matthew Plale, Edited by Diane Baldwin, Produced by Chris Bumbray and Ben Cantler, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Have you ever considered how a movie becomes a bona fide cult classic? While many factors play a role, the phenomenon usually begins with a high-quality product that fails to resonate among the masses during its initial release due to ungraspable material ahead of its time, yet through its own undeniable merits, finds its passionate fanbase that grows over time and allows the film to become far more popular after the fact than it was in the present tense. In the case of David Cronenberg’s sci-fi body horror opus Videodrome, the film has overcome its notorious box-office failure to ascend as one of the most revered movies of Cronenberg’s illustrious career.

Shetland’s Series 7 return is a bittersweet one for fans of the Scottish BBC crime drama. The six-episode run will be actor Douglas Henshall’s last in the lead role of Di Jimmy Perez. Forever underlining the strangeness of the Primetime Emmy Awards calendar, the BAFTA TV Awards were held Friday, celebrating several previous Emmy winners and nominees, including HBO’s “Chernobyl,” Netflix’s “When They See Us,” in addition to Sian Clifford of Amazon Prime Video’s “Fleabag.”
Speaking of “Fleabag,” the BAFTA awards body appeared to officially end its lukewarm love affair with Phoebe Waller-Bridge before it truly began. The “Fleabag” creator and star was nominated for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme as well as Scripted Comedy and lost in both categories, in addition to losing out in the Best Writer — Comedy category at the BAFTA TV Craft awards announced earlier this month. The losses bring Waller-Bridge’s overall BAFTA TV record to 1-8, with her only win coming in Best Female Performance in a Comedy for the first season of “Fleabag.”

Chernobyl’s awards run continues after picking up the award for best mini-series at the BAFTA TV Awards.
The HBO and Sky co-production drama beat BBC drama The Victim, Channel 4’s The Virtues and ITV’s A Confession to pick up the award.
Jared Harris also won the leading actor award. He beat The Capture’s Callum Turner, The Virtues’ Stephen Graham and Giri/Haji’s Takehiro Hira to the award. Harris joked that BAFTA had “ruined his losing streak” and he shouted out former HBO exec Kary Antholis, who told him that Daniel Day Lewis was the network’s first choice to play the role.
This comes after the disaster drama picked up three Emmys in September, including outstanding limited series as well as seven awards at the Creative Arts Emmys.
The show, which charts the fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion in 1986, was produced by Jane Featherstone’s Sister Pictures.

Stv Productions is in the mix for two BAFTA TV Awards on Friday night, when double Oscar-winner Glenda Jackson competes in the Best Actress category for dementia drama Elizabeth Is Missing and Edinburgh-set The Victim vies for Best Mini-Series. For Sarah Brown, the Scottish producer’s creative director of drama, it represents the culmination of six years of work.
“It’s been an amazing 18 months for us. The Victim and Elizabeth Is Missing are the first productions we have made since I joined in 2014. As you know, drama takes a long time to come to fruition,” she says ahead of Friday’s BAFTA ceremony, which will take place online because of the coronavirus pandemic. “The Victim was supposed to go out in 2018, but for various reasons, it didn’t go out until April 2019. It turned out quite well for us because we had two shows going out in one year.

On Friday the 31st of July, the Bafta TV 2020 awards will take place as a closed-studio socially distanced ceremony.
The event will be broadcast “as-live” on BBC One, with nominees invited to accept their awards virtually from first-time host Richard Ayoade, who will be corporeal but (possibly) presenting David Blaine-style from inside a giant glass box. There will be no virus-spreading handshakes or matey hugs. Acceptance speeches may well be comedy skits; it’s best to mentally prepare for such an eventuality.
Today’s TV award nominations were originally due to be announced on the 26th of April, with the ceremony taking place on the 17th of May, but were postponed due to Covid-19.
The Bafta Television Craft Award ceremony, presented by Stephen Mangan, will be streamed online on Friday the 17th of July. Those nominations, recognising the raft of off-screen talent in the UK and international television industry are available to see here.

Luther creator Neil Cross has scored a four-part drama about ghosts and murder for British broadcaster ITV.
The network has commissioned Because The Night, produced by Hard Sun producer Euston Films. Inspired by Cross’ own novel Burial, the series follows the well-meaning but directionless Nathan, who has a terrible secret he’s long prayed would stay buried and for which he’s long worked hard to make recompense. Almost a decade into his new and devoted married life, Nathan is rocked to the core when Bob, an unwelcome face from the past, turns up on his doorstep with shocking news that triggers a series of catastrophic decisions which cleverly drive a tense and compelling narrative of psychological suspense, dread, love and possible redemption.
Euston Films is backed by Fremantle, where Cross struck an overall deal in December 2017.
