Being a fan of Thala Ajith I was really expecting this one to be a great movie I was disappointed with Vivegam but I loved Veeram and vedalam
This movie has a good performance from Ajith but the script is horrible I mean what the point of giving such a great build up and showing him like a mass hero thooku durai when the stakes and the story are silly and unbearable
I don't like such movies coming from superstars I hope the pink remake will put Thala back on track

This is the fourth film of Ajith and Siva and arguably better than their other films. But still the plot points are so weak that it does not give any big impact on the later stages of the film. The love sequence and the underwhelming jokes in first half makes the film unwatchable and horrible.
But the only part that holds the film together is the relationship of Thookudurai and his daughter.
If you get past the horrible first half of the film you can see a somewhat okay second half.
Totally not recommending this film for movie buff.

This movie is a good entertainer the first half is a very standard affair, entertaining still but second half is where you recieve your moneys worth. The movie has a message which is delievered precisely instead of the general preachy tone you see in commercial movies.

Thorough family entertainer where Ajith and Nayan share equal Screen space in movie with top notch performance. Sentiments are a little more than expected. Ajith 's performance is very different after Mankatha. Worth a watch with your family ☺☺☺

The first half of the movie was unnecessary. Even if that's taken out, it wouldn't have made a difference. Although even the second half of it didn't make a difference. It was pathetic and pointless. The motive of the villain was the silliest I've ever seen. Being a Thala Fan, I am utterly disappointed with his choice of films. Why does he always go back to Siva? If Siva has/ had assistant directors, it is better that they remain assistants because if each one of them come up with movies like these, Tamil cinema is going down the drain.

Ajith and Siva combined viswasam movie has a very average storyline but screenplay and ajith' s acting makes it a good family entertainer. After a long time a movie came for family audiences.
Mass actors these days think that using a successful template over and over again will get them larger fan following. The movie fails to address a large section of the audience who are seeking good content.

In Veeram, Ajith protected his in-laws. In Vedalam, he protected his foster sister. In Vivegam, he saved his pregnant wife. In Viswasam, he protects his daughter. Ajith-Siva should consider saving the audience from bad movies by taking a very long break from each other.

Pongal releases have a trend of releasing films with the usual content that sells down in Tamil Nadu. Mass hero, Mass subject (either family problem, prestige problem, corporate conflict), Heroine's entry (make or break their need in the story), comedy, couple of fights and a photo finish laced with a message. VISWASAM ticks off the aforementioned.
No points for guessing how the story is formed, but one must give credit to Ajith Kumar for being a true VISWASHI to Director Sivaa (their fourth outing) after that disappointment that was VIVEGAM. Sure VEERAM & VEDHALAM weren't great cinema, but the latter was a decent masala that brought the antagonist Ajith back briefly since MANGATHA while the former was a mere village potboiler. VISWASAM feels like VEERAM's spiritual successor. Come to think of it, this tetralogy comes to a full circle with both being gaon-wala films.
Ajith seems to be having a ball here playing Thookudurai. Sure you know where the story's headed, but you (the audience) probably enjoy Ajith being verbose and sentimental (like mass heroes do). The rest of the cast properly tick off their roles required for a family-village potboiler. Although I wonder why a poorly etched villain (Jagapati Babu) who comes in roughly an hour+ into the film without any Salman Khan-Sonu Sood like confrontation.
VISWASAM marks the end of the Ajith-Sivaa combination. Going forward, the next two films of Ajith (Pink remake & a fresh script) by H.Vinoth (Theeran fame) under Boney Kapoor's production are going to be keenly watched. Hopefully, we shall see the dormant performance of Actor Ajith return to form in these next two films.

Ajith and Siva reunite for the fourth time in Viswasam which is another family entertainer from their combo. Well, it actually gives me the feeling that Ajith is not tired to work back to back with the same filmmaker who is making the star vehicle films tailor-made for him. Viswasam feels like any other entertainer in Tamil. It celebrates the star throughout the whole film. Viswasam gives the needed boost for Ajith's larger than life mass image. We have many fan moments and well-choreographed action sequences to cherish Ajith the star. Apart from Ajith's screen presence, we have Nayanthara having a strong female role. Even though she has limited screen time, she performs convincingly in her role. On the other side, Anikha has done a beautiful role perfectly sketched for her. The other supporting actors have a very little scope in this family entertainer. The antagonist has nothing to do with this film and I don't understand the need of having him in it. Looking at Siva's films so far, I feel that he has some troubles in making strong and challenging antagonists in his films which is also a very common issue in most commercial entertainers in Tamil. Let's just keep in mind that it's the well-known commercial template film that we are watching for very long decades. The film establishes clearly the main issues of the protagonist at first but has trouble unfolding throughout the very long narration. Viswasam seems to take too much time before entering the main plot of the film. There's a lack of focus on the plot in the first half which is quiet managed by the strong commercial elements added in. Even the second half is too long and it becomes predictable too but the emotional scenes help the film become engaging. Honestly, Siva excels greatly with his heartwarming emotional scenes. The father and daughter bonding is one of the major pillars of Viswasam and it helps the film to shine brightly. This is obviously the element that makes us watch this entertainer with patience. D. Imman's background score and songs lift well the film. In fact, the celebratory "Adichu Thooku" and the lovely "Kanaana Kanney" are the best from the album. Overall, Viswasam seems to be a very good entertainer with heart-warming emotional scenes.

Very simple and short story line up but unexpected. It made the director struggle to present the story for 150mins. So he tried to add entertaining elements in empty 1st half. It could be done even better but it is not upto satisfying level. The movie catches the audience only in the 2nd half. Not much scope given to villain because villainism is not necessary for this story. Emotions of two fathers is shown well.
Climax of the movie holds the whole show.
BGM and screen presence gives goosebumps as usual and unusual thing in Siva & Ajith combo is emotions and it worked well. These things matched the average 1st half and uplifted the movie.
Pros : Romance, Emotions, Acting, etc Cons : Comedy and continuous songs without gap in 1st half.
And my rating for this movie is 7/10
Finally Viswasam is not only for fans but also for families

A film back to the early 2000s, cant understand why Siva is Undernutilising Thala this way. Never want this combo again. Too saddening to see this being a Fan. Mayb it worked in TN but not in my country or Overseas areas... Pls Thala do not go back to Siva again!
Viswasam - Somewhat Average Flick
There is a saying that "End singing while your voice is good" , just like that Siva Ended his long term contract with Ajith in making below standard movies with this one. After Viswasam my ratings in Siva-Ajith Combo shown below 1. Vivegam 2. Veeram 3. Viswasam and the last is 4. Vedhalam In the combo movies I still rate vedhalam as the lowest rating where Viswasam passed the average of Vedhalam in a slight marks. As always , Siva is pathetic in creating stories. This movie doesnt have a catchy story or revolving point for Climax & Revenge. Cinematography by vetri is somewhat good while Immans music stands the same, however If we watch the songs in theater we tend to enjoy bit more with Thala's screen presence. The scenes shown in trailer and teaser didnt gave expected in the real film. Fights are less. Movie is filled with almost full of cliche of sub standard soaps. We can expect what is going to happen for sure. Ajith's acting is the only thing which stands out in this movie. Some of the close up shots shows his eyes, lips and eyebrows expressing the emotions beautifully. But his style and attire is as same as Veeram and as a thala fan I like to see him in a different style in next movie.
Overall siva thought to attract the audience by taking an emotional story rather than a mass-action flick, his inborn sub standard taste in Story-Screenplay and Direction have shown him a lowest level of film making. Thanks to Ajith that his next film wont be with Siva !
