I might've appreciated this a bit more if I hadn't seen Help for the Holidays first. This is basically a rewrite of the previous Hallmark movie with barely religious overtones; God and Michael instead of Santa and an angel instead of an elf, the rest was basically the same. It was saved from a lower score by Rachel Boston (especially) and Paul Greene. Beau Bridges was good some of the time but other scenes I felt he was just calling it in. I prefer this to Help for the Holidays but mostly because it makes more sense to have an angel in the supernatural helper role than one of Santa's elves but they are mostly interchangeable.
A sweaty priest and a terrible choir like the ones in this film would surely always be enough to put you off going to church and this film could quite easily have gone over the top with the Jesusy stuff, but actually it's very subtle and the message is more about the giving of love, time and thought at Christmas.
There is a slightly magical element in the form of the angels sent to rescue the season, in this town that has forgotten its way, but it's not done in that cheesey way that others seem to use.
Paul Greene is a very hot fireman and even the leading lady is quite appealing as a character too. So the romantic element wasn't hard to watch.
It's a positive film about being festive through kindness and community and there really can't be any harm in that can there?
7ish?

I will admit that this was my first time seeing this movie. I caught it about halfway through and something just seemed very familiar, Christmas in Angel Falls appears to be loosely related to the movie 'Christmas Magic' in that a young lady is sent from above as a guardian angel to help a family. Even the dialog between Gabby and Michael sounds nearly identical to CM. Aside from that, i thought the movie was very good. A lot of people above me gave kudos for the cast, and i can't disagree with them! I'm really looking forward to watching this again, but this time, from the beginning! :-D
'Christmas in Angel Falls' did sound very charming even if the plot synopsis was nothing earth shattering. My 2019 onwards Christmas film completest quest (namely those from Hallmark and Lifetime), that is still ongoing with no intent to stop just yet, has been a very uneven endeavour but an interesting one with some real winners. Rachel Boston and Paul Greene have been good in other things, despite their filmographies being variable.
On the whole, 'Christmas in Angel Falls' is a winner, if not quite one of the standout viewings of the project. It is not earth shattering or anything out of the ordinary, but it was watched by me in the want of something charming, light hearted and heart-warming. 'Christmas in Angel Falls' succeeded in all three of those areas on the whole, even if not every single area quite comes off. It is also a good representation of both leads, which is a good thing as that would have been a big problem if their performances were the opposite.
Admittedly, there is nothing new story wise. It is very easy to tell what is going to happen before it happens and the ending is the pretty typical Hallmark Christmas film sort of ending (meaning easily telegraphed and on the too neat side) not in doubt.
Will agree too that Beau Bridges is under-utilised and he did come over on the bland side here.
Bland is the complete opposite when it comes to talking about Boston though. If anything, her radiant and immensely appealing performance as a lead character that is easy to like and root for is the main reason to see 'Christmas in Angel Falls'. Greene is an easy going and subtle leading man and they are very warm and amiable together. Their chemistry seemed genuine, even if it fell a little short of sparkling. Support is good enough.
It is nicely filmed too. It's not drably lit, is cohesively edited and the locations are made good use of despite it being obvious that it was not shot at Christmas time. The film doesn't make the mistake that most recently seen Christmas films have done of having over-used and overpowering music, it is lovely to listen to and has a festive feel. The dialogue doesn't have too much cheese and doesn't fall into schmaltz, it's amusing and sometimes movingly delivered with spirit.
Furthermore, 'Christmas in Angel Falls' was very capably directed too, not allowing the film to drag and always making the drama and such clear. The story is predictable, but is very light-hearted and heart-warming with more character depth and likeability than most recently seen Christmas films. There is a lot of charm and it really does live up to its well meaning title. Did find myself liking the characters and their personalities and didn't find myself frustrated by any behaviours or questioning motivations (have seen too many holiday films that have been guilty of those).
Overall, nice film. 7/10.

I REVIEW MOVIES & SPECIALS AS A WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF WHAT I HAVE SEEN! I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY GEMS IN MY QUEST TO SEE AS MANY " C H R I S T M A S " MOVIES AS I CAN.
Hallmark Channel delivers a little In this 2017 television film. In this film Guardian angel Gabby is sent to the town of Angel Falls to restore its Christmas spirit. As she helps the townspeople to revive their traditions, Gabby meets a volunteer fire chief who in turn tell her about "Angel Falls" and how an the hidden message about having unresolved issues.
Hallmark Movie Staples Rachel Boston, and Paul Greene help make this worth seeing. Also I also like Beau Bridges. My only gripe about this film was that "I wish he had a larger role in this".
Family safe but in reality it is a romance movie for people that love romance!

- TriviaFilmed in North Bay, Ontario Canada in September 2017. The church used for interiors and exteriors was St. Andrew's United Church in the same city.
- GoofsAbout 5 mins in, Gabby is talking to fireman Jack, out in the street. An extra wearing a bright royal blue coat and matching knit royal blue beret passes behind the actress in the foreground. The camera cuts to Jack, and the extra can be seen finalizing her passing and exiting screen right. The problem is the camera P.O.V. cuts back to Gabby, and that same female extra is seen again, passing as if the first time, behind Gabby. (The same extra will reappear later in the show, wearing the same bright blue costume.)
