Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas are ready to battle it out on December 21, and the Dunki Vs Salaar craze is currently keeping the fans hooked as well as excited. But this clash brought back memories of another clash. In fact, Shah Rukh Khan‘s last clash at the box office, which was also with a South film, coincidentally on the same date as well!

Five years ago, in 2018, Srk, with his Zero, helmed by Aanand L Rai, clashed with Kgf: Chapter 1. While he gears up to clash with Salaar on the same date, the mother of co-incidences is the director. Both Kgf and Salaar have been helmed by Prashanth Neel!

It was in 2018 when Kgf: Chapter 1, starring Yash, was released on December 21 and clashed with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s Zero.

The book charts the winding true story of the Indian diamond, the 27th largest in the world, which is currently part of the British Crown Jewels. The precious stone changed hands between various factions in south and west Asia, until being ceded to Queen Victoria after the British annexation of the Punjab in 1849. The diamond has inspired much folklore over the decades and has become a symbol of power as it passed from one royal to another.

Ambition is not a bad thing, if applied sagaciously to a given situation. Yamla Pagla Deewna Phir Se is an ambitious comedy. To begin with, it references several of Dharmendra’s evergreen songs from Gadi bula rahi hai (Dost) to the song from Pratiggya from which this serial franchise gets its title.

The problem here is not one of energy and gusto, qualities which are found in abundance in scene after scene played out by characters who seem to be energized by their presence in a film that celebrates the collective stardom of the Deol family.The problem is with the momentum. The profusion of characters often derails the drollery. For example, the Punjabis versus the Gujaratis debate could have been done less boisterously.

Last week when the veteran actors were on the sets, Dharamji confessed that shooting the scenes made them nostalgic. A while back we had reported that the third instalment in the Yamla Pagla Deewana franchise had commenced production. Starring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Kirti Kharbanda, the film is being directed by Navaniat Singh. While the film still is currently a long way off from hitting screens, we hear that Salman Khan who has never shied away from showing his friendship for the Deols, will be doing a special number for the film that has been titled Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se. A source revealed, “Salman had committed that he would special song for the Deols a while back. Now that he is in the city, the actor wanted to complete shooting for the number before he heads for the next schedule of Race 3 in Abu Dhabi.”
