    Random Clips

Animal performers, some child actors, and clips from the auction of Fannie Ward's house -- she was, it was noted, abroad and intending to remain that way -- make up this episode of this "behind the scenes" series.

It seems to be a fairly random assortment of clips, as if they edited them together with neither rhyme nor reason. That's probably why this series didn't get into 1928.

The "stars when they're not on the stage" series were a popular feature for decades. The grandfather was Columbia's SCREEN SNAPSHOTS, which ran from before the studio got its name until the 1950s. This is a lesser relative.

    Scenes from a Lost Movie

Life in Hollywood No. 6 (1927) *** (out of 4) The sixth film in the series starts off by introducing us to a different type of celebrity, which are the various animals that are on studio lots. From here we get to see various stars with their animal co-stars including the likes of Ruth Roland, Lottie and Jack Pickford and Kathleen Clifford. Other celebrities include Miriam Batista, Fannie Ward, Lem Kennedy and Annie Luther. We also see Jack Clifford and Vivian Martin preparing for a scene in JUST MARRIED, a feature that is now lost. As you can tell, the "star" factor was certainly going away as the series moved along but this is certainly worth seeing for film buffs as these people really aren't very well remembered today, which is all the more reason for this short to be beneficial since there's just not too much footage of them.
