The film even opens with Detective Toth (Robert Bronzi) walking in on, and bloodily dispatching, a couple of armed robbers who are standing between him and his beer. “You look familiar,” the shaken cashier tells him. “I get that a lot”. But, more importantly, it has something Bronson never had to deal with, a werewolf.

Unfortunately for Toth, he was off duty and already reeking of booze at the time of the incident, so instead of a commendation, he gets suspended by Captain Rhodes. He tells him to get his shit together so he won’t have to make it permanent,...

Disquiet is defined as “a feeling of anxiety or worry”, and it’s something one often feels when in a hospital even if they’re just visiting. So imagine what Sam is feeling when he wakes up in a hospital with nobody answering the call button. Even worse, the patient in the next bed tries to strangle him, then chases him into the hall where Sam stabs him repeatedly with a scalpel, only for the body to vanish.

When a nurse does arrive she vanishes as soon as he looks away. And then the psycho guy returns, even ripping open the roof of the elevator trying to get at Sam. After escaping once again he has flashbacks to the accident that put him in the hospital.

The first teaser trailer for The Toybox has emerged from the desert. This is the latest horror film from director Tom Nagel (Clowntown, 2017). Somewhat reminiscent of The Hills Have Eyes (2006), a family picks up a couple of hitchhikers, after their vehicle breaks down. X-Ray, Visiting Hours, The Hospital, See No Evil 2… Who doesn’t love a good old horror movie set inside a medical facility? Not typically a location that has been overly-used in the genre, I mention that last film as it too starred Danielle Harris, who parlays her years of experience in the genre into this, her latest film, which she pretty much carries solely on her scream-queen shoulders.

And there is, ultimately, a very good reason Inoperable is a one-woman film…

Combining the eerie atmosphere of The Twilight Zone with the time loop predicament of Groundhog Day and the immersive qualities of a first-person shooter video game, Inoperable was one of my favorite viewing experiences of 2017, so I was especially pleased to catch up with co-writer/director Christopher Lawrence Chapman to discuss the film in a new Q&A feature.

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us and congratulations on Inoperable, which made my list of Favorites of 2017. When did you and Jeff Miller first come up with the idea for this movie?

Christopher Lawrence Chapman: Thank you so much! I was really flattered to make your list of favorites for 2017! I am so fortunate to have critics and writers like you who really know this genre and help tell the filmmaker’s stories!

I had shot a few films in the past, and began working on a film with Jeff Miller.

February 6th is shaping up to be a busy day for horror and sci-fi fans, as there are a bunch of great films heading home on Tuesday. The highly anticipated Hatchet sequel, Victor Crowley, arrives on Blu-ray and DVD this week courtesy of Dark Sky Films, and Scream Factory and IFC Midnight have the slasher comedy Welcome to Willits on their release slate.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is keeping busy this week with a slew of titles, including House of Demons, Keep Watching, and Family Possessions, and cult film fans will definitely want to pick up the brand new Blu-rays for Grizzly and The Gruesome Twosome.

Other notable releases for February 6th include Day of the Dead: Bloodline, Inoperable, the Friday the 13th: 8-Movie Collection, The Diabolical Dr. Z, and the Stephen King 6-Movie Collection.

Danielle Harris is none too pleased about David Gordan Green’s decision to retcon her Jamie Lloyd (and Annie Brackett!) out of the Halloween series.

Early last month, the series veteran – Harris has notched four appearances opposite the relentless Michael Myers – posted a frank assessment of 2018’s hotly-anticipated reboot, which is expected to ignore all other instalments save for John Carpenter’s iconic, spine-chilling original.

Currently out promoting Inoperable, Danielle Harris has now offered more thoughts on Jamie Llyod being left out in the cold, and why she’s still hopeful that her fan-favorite will make a return in the not-so-distant future – you know, providing Green’s revival isn’t remember as the final Halloween.

Hi Danielle, and congratulations on Inoperable. It feels like a mix of Groundhog Day and The Twilight Zone, but it still has its own personality. Watching it for the first time was such a mind-bending experience, so what was it like when you...

Danielle Harris is an actress, based in Los Angeles. She has appeared in dozens and dozens of films. Notably, she appeared in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, at the very young age of 11 and Halloween 5, just a year later. She has also appeared in the the two Halloween remakes, shot by Rob Zombie. This film fan and critic knows her from her work on Stakeland (2010), Hatchet II (2010), Hatchet III (2013), See No Evil 2 (2014), Havenhurst (2016) and now in Christopher Lawrence Chapman's Inoperable. Harris is a prolific and talented actress. And, she is interesting, in that she has chosen to specifically work in the horror genre. In this interview, Harris talks about some of the difficulties of shooting in the genre. She also talks about doing her own stunt work, on Hatchet III and what she liked about her latest production, Inoperable. Her spirit animal is a wolf.
