Mad Max: Roadkill BBQ

1 review
7/10

Mad Max Gory Road.

This fun 4-minute short takes place in the same dystopian post-apocalyptic outback setting as the official Mad Max movies and sees a pair of survivors trying to refuel their vehicle. Those in charge of the gasoline want meat in exchange, and so the guys set about running down people with their dune buggy, putting the bloody body parts in a sack for trading.

What the film lacks in story, it makes up for in style and bloody mayhem: Roadkill BBQ looks great (shot on Red Digital, I believe) with costumes, props and vehicles that wouldn't seem out of place in a proper George Miller movie. Director Mike Diva handles the action well, matching the hot and dusty teal and orange look of Fury Road and delivering loads of cartoonish OTT gore. I'd be interested to see what he could do with a bigger budget...
