Just a few inaccuracies:
This mini series should have employed a simple script consultant with knowledge of the US military.
1. US Navy does not fly any F-16 fighters. That is an Air Force fighter that is land based. Not a carrier based aircraft that could be shot down by Chinese missiles on a freedom of navigation mission from a carrier.
2. Navy Captains are rarely fly combat missions. Captain is a flag officer rank with likely on two on a US Nimitz carrier, the commanding officer and the Air Boss (Air Wing Commander). So highest ranking pilot would be a Navy Commander.
3. No group of Americans working in the national security field would all have the basic American, non regionalized accents. Not a single distinct regional accent or use of common regional idioms was distracting and made it clear the writing team was not well versed in American military and intelligence life.
4: it was very refreshing not to have exaggerated caricatures of Australian characters you would find if this show were produced in the US.
It was clearly designed to question the wisdom of Australia's ongoing relationship with the US. However, the US and Australia share way to many cultural commonalities to ever be at odds. It is fair to question the relationship but, this show takes it a bit far.
The intelligence capabilities that it implies the allies share are truly staggering. I cannot say if that is realistic but, if it is I hope we maintain clear civilian oversight of these agencies to protect the liberty of all people across the globe.
