There were never such devoted sisters
29 July 2018
Jacqueline and Elizabeth Labadie play the Kelly sisters in Crowning Jules. Elizabeth is the beauty queen and Jacqueline in the title role is the high academic achieving Jules. For reasons I can't fathom it's the beauty queen who is the favorite of dad Kevin Farley. He has his eyes on Michigan State for his daughters and Elizabeth might make it on beauty and cheerleading.

Jacqueline wants more, she's got her eye on Harvard and when there's a beauty pageant in Boston the sisters make a road trip to Massachusetts from Ann Arbor.

Unfortunately they buy a broach pawned by Kristy Swanson's lunkhead stepsons, one of them Kenton Duty late of the Disney channel. That starts a cross state pursuit of the twins.

In the meantime Jules has met her knight in shining armor. Can you do better than a rock musician who goes to MIT? That's Derek Brandon for you. And of course the sisters really bond in this trip.

Crowning Jules is a nice family picture. I could never quite buy Kenton Duty as a bad kid. He's silly Gunther Hessenheffer from Shake It Up or he's always a role model type youth. Can't see him as a villain, even a comic one.

Families will enjoy this one.
