The formula is relevant even today . Mamooty and Sukanya have a love marriage . He has a sound business going on . She is from a rich family herself ,Thilakan being her protective father . Very soon they settle down to domestic bliss and have a cute daughter too .slowly he starts getting losses in his business due to ill judgement . His downfall starts and spreads slowly . Very soon he has to sell off his businesses one by one . His in laws try to help him out time and again . Reclining self respect, heavy ego , helplessness , frustration .. all lead to him having tiffs with those who try to help him out . The family now regales to a small one room house from their big palatial bungalow . Sukanya never complains and tries to adapt herself . He starts drinking and gets into bad company. Sukanya sadly helplessly watches him fall low and low .
The final nail in the coffin comes when his own ex employee comes to partake some drinks with him and tries to molest Sukanya. Realising that he is a hopeless case , she returns back to her father who takes her in without any questions .
He wanders around and becomes an ascetic . The daughter grows up into a beautiful woman . He comes back to their home town . He meets his wife towards the end . This makes for a poignant watch. Both realize that they could have made it work if they had stuck to each other and worked a bit harder . An eye opening movie even today to young families .
Sukanya wears nice sarees to show off her domestic status . She looks good in western and also Indian outfits equally . Mamooty and Thilankan are dependable and need no mention here about their skills . There are no unnecessary songs or comedy track to deviate. A fine family fare .
