Halloween: A Lenda de Jack

Despite a very formulaic plot the film succeeds in being a watchable and at times enjoyable romp through the usual slasher tropes. Halloween Jack looks great and the kills are very effectively executed. There is the occasional unexpected twist that helps break the predictability (mostly involving the psychotic mayor) and the ending is quite satisfying. Main appeal will be to fans of old school slasher movies.

This film essentially begins in the small town of Dunwich with a man by the name of "Jack Cain" (Lee Bane) being tried in a court of law for the murder of an innocent couple some time earlier. As it turns out, the local constable "Frank Hollister" (Colin Holt) failed to conduct a lawful search and as a result the judge had no choice but to dismiss the entire case against Jack and let him go free. Not at all happy with this result, four of the townsmen decide to take matters into their own hands and kill him. What they don't realize is that, not only was Jack innocent of the charges against him, but that the time and place they chose for his murder was extremely conducive to a mystical phenomenon and, exactly one year later, Jack rises from his shallow grave and is filled with a deadly resolve to get back on all living beings within the area. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this film had definite potential, but it was clearly limited by the lack of financial resources. To further elaborate, I thought that the plot was reasonably good and the acting, for the most part, was generally adequate as well. But what really hurt this movie, however, was the initial opening court scene which looked more like a small group of people gathering in a courthouse rather than a dignified and legitimate trial. Very amateurish. Likewise, all of the scenes involving firearms were equally pathetic due to the fact that, upon being discharged, the sound resembled a cap pistol rather than an actual gun. Again, very amateurish. That being said, while I liked certain parts of this film, the flaws just mentioned were too obvious to be ignored and I have rated this movie accordingly. Below average.

Not sure where to begin here. I believe the problem is with the sound quality of this movie and editing. It just makes no sense. Some actors seem to have American accents others, Lord knows what. There is no continuity. The storyline is all over the place and for some insane reason, they keep cutting to this weird lame band. I'm glad I watched it because now I know what a good movie is, anything other than this; except The Room.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, way too many boring back and forth speaking scenes with montone voices and uninteresting camera shots. Terrible pacing and really odd slow motion sections that look like theyre lagging.

Can't wait for part 2.

Good Concept bad low budget almost didn't want to watch it cause of it, but hey low budget could use some love to especially when its a good concept like this. Maybe it will improve if its liked enough.
