Jose "Chipi" Estrada is a Guatemalan-born composer based in Los Angeles, CA. He has scored for games, short-films, podcasts and other media including the award-winning animated short-film Metaphora which features his original music; a blend of indigenous Central American instruments and psychedelic electronics and Jaloguin which includes the song "She Stays Strong" winner of the InterContinental Music Awards 2019.
He began his musical career as a self-taught guitar player in Quetzaltenango, a city in the highlands of Guatemala known as "the cradle of culture" in the country. With no formal musical training, he moved to Guatemala City and discovered a whole new world of music that inspired and led him all the way to the Musicians Institute College of Music in Hollywood several years later.
As a post-production sound engineer he has worked as sound editor and re-recording mixer in many projects that have gotten film festival awards and international praise. Estrada has become an expert on voice over, ADR, dubbing and dialog for animation recording, collaborating and recording major productions with star-talent which led him to become the lead engineer for the Los Angeles studio Voxx Studios.
