Thomas Ebert was born 1961 in Monterrey, Mexico to German parents. He began stage-acting at the age of 16, and for more than 40 years has acted in many plays, some of them under the leadership of well-known Mexican directors, such as the late Martín Aguirre, Sergio Rod, Juan Carlos Franco, and the Spanish stage-director Héctor Dugó.
His film debut came in 1984 with the large American production "Dune" by David Lynch, mainly filmed in Mexico, where he played a minor role. It was followed a few years later by small parts in Paul Verhoeven's "Total Recall", "The Arrival" by David Twohy, the acclaimed film "Frida" by Julie Taymor, and Bruce Beresford's "Pancho Villa - Mexican Outlaw", all of them also filmed in Mexico City and surroundings. From overseas followed a couple of feature-films produced and filmed in Germany (see Thomas Ebert (II) here on IMDb). Shortly thereafter, he was chosen as the main character in the German production "Mexiko" directed by Michael Markus, and entirely shot throughout the central and southern part of the aforementioned country. After several short-films he landed a role in the awarded Canadian production: the feature-film "Beyond What Remains" directed by Bassel Martin and Peter Tharos, also shot in Mexico. Thomas recently obtained roles in the Mexican theatre-movie "Inside the Mine" by Jorge Eduardo Ramírez, the comedy "Te juro que yo no fui" which is the most recent production of Joaquín Bissner, and in "Desvanecer", Antonio Rotunno's first feature-film. Leading roles followed in "Revueltas", a feature-film by Antonio Jiménez, and in the most recent film by Desmond Devenish: Eddie & Sunny, sharing the set with the American actor Gabriel Luna. Worth to be mentioned is also a role in the Mexican TV- Series "Revolución - The Battles of Celaya" by film director Miguel Rico Tavera, and produced by the well-known Mexican actor Eric del Castillo.
In a longer list of short-films since 2009 he has had several leading roles, among which are "Amarás a todas las Cecilias" by Adriana Gaal, "El Guardián del Aeropuerto" by Miguel de Luna, "La Muerte Intrascendente" by Ivo Loyola, and "Los Matadores" (a short-film based on Ernest Hemingway's "The Killers") directed by Sergio Benítez, for which Thomas was awarded a Golden Star as Best Actor in a leading role. Other important shortfilms followed, like "Miserere Mei Deus" by Aleks García, "María" by Kar Liñán, the awarded "Manecillas" (Clock Hands) by Adrián Servién, and "About Eve" by Manuel Aguirre.
His acting skills are based not only on his experience, but on a good training received by well-known actors such as Alecxandro Vaguióre, Luís Felipe Tovar, Ofelia Medina, Anna Ciocchetti, Javier Velázquez, Anna Cetti, Diego Luna, and the famous film directors Luís Mandoki and Joaquín Bissner.
He recently returned to Germany where he is re-entering the European television and film industry.
