Zachary Werner is an award winning producer, writer, director and former partner at Bodega Pictures. Born and raised in Miami Beach, FL he brings a unique flavor to all of the projects he creates.
While attending The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Werner worked on productions such as Curse of the Jade Scorpion and Sweet and Low Down for Director Woody Allen, and the television series Law and Order: Criminal Intent for Dick Wolf. He also produced, wrote, and directed over a dozen short films and documentaries.
After graduating, Werner got his professional career started as an associate producer on the show 9/11: Looking Back...Moving Forward for the critically acclaimed PBS series In the Mix. Bouncing between documentary and narrative filmmaking, Werner produced the short film Chinese Dream which played in over fifty international film festivals and won four Best Short Film awards including the 2004 San Francisco International Film Festival. The film was later short listed for the 2005 Academy Awards. He also executive produced, directed, and shot Miami Manhunt (A&E), a feature length documentary that chronicles a serial rape investigation in Miami which was bought and aired by A&E network. The film was submitted for the 2007 Primetime Emmy. Zachary went on to produce and shoot three hit shows for A&E: the award winning reality series The First 48, Manhunters: Fugitive Task Force, and LA Gang Unit.
In 2008, Zachary founded Bodega Pictures with Josh Ackerman and Ben Nurick. Together they produced over one hundred hours of television for top channels such as HGTV, Spike TV, and Food Network, as well as branded content. Zachary left Bodega in 2016 and partnered with his sister, Katharine Werner, to pursue scripted TV and film projects. Their focus is on writing and producing historical fiction, true stories and cutting edge dramas, in a style that is ultra realistic with a uniquely fresh perspective. When he's not pounding the pavement to find the next big show or film idea, he might be caught enjoying a few rounds of golf, a competitive match of tennis, or catching a movie. Zachary resides in LA with his wife and two kids.
