The beauty of a show receiving a second season is seeing how the writers — having firmly established their characters and world — broaden the show to encompass more. Some shows falter; “Colin from Accounts” soared.

Nowhere is that better expressed than in the plotlines concocted for the friends and family of Gordon (co-creator Patrick Brammall) and Ashley (co-creator Harriet Dyer), both of whom have the requisite oddballs in their lives who, in typical “Colin from Accounts” fashion, are tweaked just enough to be both over-the-top and recognizably human. If Ashley’s mother, Lynelle (Helen Thomson), served as a foil to her daughter (and a symbol of how Ashley became who she is) in Season 1, she gets a truly wild plot in Season 2 that allows both character and actor to step into the spotlight. Believe it or not, Season 2 of “Colin from Accounts” initially ended on an even bleaker note.

Not that the current ending isn’t already a heartbreaker. Swept up in wedding fever, Gordon abruptly proposes to Ashley on the dance floor. And she doesn’t say yes, leaving them in an awkward place, relationship-wise, and him in a humiliated position in the middle of a dance floor. Was there ever a question of ending the season on such a dire note?

“It was more dire,” co-star and co-creator Harriet Dyer told IndieWire.

“It was just Gordon and Ashley in the wide after he proposed,” co-star and co-creator Patrick Brammall said. “So after [Gordon] puts the music back on — and it was still ‘Slice of Heaven’ — it’s a wide frame. They’re like on an island and you’re like, ‘Oh, they’re fucking dead.’ And they’re trying to dance and it’s not working.

As Paramount+’s “Colin From Accounts” winds down its Season 2 with the finale episode “Speedy Susans,” Gordon (Patrick Brammall) and Ashley (Harriet Dyer) are actually in a pretty good place. Figuratively, not literally: They’re technically at the wedding of Ashley’s best friend Megan (Emma Harvie) and her fiancé Rumi (Virginia Gay), who is most certainly not a fan of Gordon.

But that’s fine, Ashley is the one in pain, after her wisdom teeth are removed. Ashley nonetheless tries to fulfill her job as Maid of Honor by masking her swollen face with an ill-advised spray tan. It’s an uncomfortable day for both, but things get better at the reception. In a moment of tenderness, both Gordon and Ashley say “I love you” for the first time to one another. And it seems like Season 2 is going to end on an upbeat note for them.

Harriet Dyer has been cast in the CBS comedy pilot “Dmv,” Variety has learned.

Dyer joins previously announced cast member Tim Meadows in the single-cam pilot, which was ordered at CBS back in August. The pilot is based on a short story by Katherine Heiny. The official logline states that the show is “set at the place everyone dreads going most: the Dmv. Our quirky and lovable characters are making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door. Good thing they have each other.”

Dyer will play Colette, who is described as “the driving examiner with a huge heart. Colette takes the scared and nervous people because she’s calming and patient and genuinely roots for them to pass. Smart, self-aware, and working on herself, Colette is adorably neurotic, bad with boundaries, and often prioritizes other peoples’ feelings over her own.

Colin From Accounts co-creator and star Harriet Dyer has been tapped as a lead opposite Tim Meadows in CBS‘ single-camera comedy pilot Dmv, from Dana Klein, Kapital Entertainment, TrillTV and CBS Studios. Dyer’s casting would not interfere with her duties on the well-received Paramount+ comedy series Colin From Accounts, also produced by CBS Studios; the dates have been worked out so she will be able to do both should Dmv go to series and Colin From Accounts gets renewed for a third season.

The beloved Australian rom-com series is finally back for its second season and while I want to say that everything is going hunky dory for our leading couple, in my opinion, it just won’t end up that way. Created by and starring the real-life couple Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall, Colin from Accounts is back with its much anticipated second season with the always-bickering Ashley and Gordon.

Colin from Accounts picks up the story of Ashley and Gordon two weeks after they gave up Colin to a family of three. Now, regretting their decision they have been pestering the family to give Colin so that they don’t have to deal with the question of what their relationship is like if Colin is taken out of the equation because he was the one who brought them together.

Delightful Australian sitcom Colin From Accounts is back for series 2, which lands on BBC iPlayer on the 3rd September.

Colin From Accounts was one of the most wonderful surprises of 2022. Written by and starring real life husband and wife Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall, the warm-hearted Australian sitcom follows the story of Gordon and Ashley, who meet when she flashes him while she’s crossing the street, causing him to lose concentration and run over a dog.

Deciding to care for the poor mutt rather than have him put down, the two gradually get to know and, eventually, like each other while looking after the dog they call Colin From Accounts.

Colin from Accounts has its return date set. Paramount+ has announced that the second season of the Australian romantic comedy will arrive in September, along with several first-look photos and a new poster. The series debuted in the United States in November 2023.

Series creators Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, along with Emma Harvie, Genevieve Hegney, Michael Logo, Helen Thomson, Darren Gilshenan, Annie Maynard, Tai Hara, and Glenn Hazeldine star in the series, which follows a couple brought together by a car accident. The wait is almost over, “Colin from Accounts” superfans. While the second season of the quirky Aussie comedy has already aired in Australia, U.S. fans have had to wait and wonder when they would get more of their cult favorite series. But Paramount+ has finally set a Season 2 premiere date in the U.S.

The second season aired in Australia on Foxtel, but the U.S. date for the “Colin” Season 2 premiere is Thursday, September 26, and the entire run of eight episodes will be available on Paramount+ all at once. (The first season won two prizes at the Gotham Awards this past January.)

If you haven’t discovered this uniquely Australian comedic gem, you may not realize “Colin from Accounts,” the title character, refers to not a human but a dog. A quirky series of events is set in emotion when Ashley (Harriet Dyer) randomly flashes a guy, Gordon (Patrick Brammall), who’s driving.

PaleyFest NY is lining up shows for this year’s event, starting with panels devoted to the 10th anniversary of Starz’s “Outlander,” one for HBO’s “Somebody Somewhere” and another for AMC’s “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.”

The festival will run from Oct. 16 to Oct. 22 in midtown Manhattan and feature screenings and conversations with the casts and creative teams of the season’s most-anticipated television.

Brammall will play police detective Ian Hunt, whose life fell apart ten years ago when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever.
