Araceli Velázquez was born on October 11, 1976 in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is a producer and executive producer known for I Don't Know Whether to Slit My Wrists or Leave Them Long (2013) , Desierto (2015) and Asfixia (2019).
With a BA in Media Studies, Araceli has forged a career as an audiovisual producer with 20 years of experience. She attended the prestigious EICTV Film School in Cuba and was the winner of the first production workshop Morelia Lab, held at the renowned Morelia International Film Festival.
She was Executive in charge of Production in Desierto (2015), from director Jonás Cuarón . The film received awards in the Toronto and Habana Film Festivals. She also worked as Production Supervisor of the series Crónica de castas (2014) , directed by renowned actor Daniel Giménez Cacho . In addition, she was Executive Producer of the documentary You Never Had It: An Evening With Bukowski (2016) premiered at Venice Days, and Asfixia (2019), from established director Kenya Marquez which premiered in the Morelia Film Festival.
She has been involved in the executive production of several projects that include the first feature films of filmmakers like Demián Bichir and Manolo Caro. She also developed and produced Pacífico Norte (2018) and Ana's Desire (2019).
At present she works as an independent producer for film and television.
