She was the only African-American to appear in the series Leave It to Beaver (1957); she played a maid in the episode "The Parking Attendants (1963)".

Played the original Mrs. Willis on All In The Family that featured George and Louise Jefferson (Roxie Roker would make the role famous on The Jeffersons).

Survived by her daughter, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Married at age 18 to Robert Henry Hamilton.
