- Studied at Stanford University but was hired by 20th Century Fox as a screenwriter while still an undergraduate. Served in the Army Signals Corps during World War II, based in Astoria, Queens. Worked as a writer for radio shows after the war and later authored 'Ambassador', a musical adaptation for Broadway of 'The Ambassadors' by Henry James, featuring Howard Keel and Danielle Darrieux.
