Playboy Queen Sues 'Nightmare' Lover
Playboy's most popular Playmate ever experienced every woman's worst nightmare when the man she thought loved her tried to destroy her life, a court will hear today. Muscle-bound body builder Scott James Strohmeyer allegedly stole all Petra Verkiak's money, beat her up and had her thrown in jail. The busty pin-up, who has been featured in Playboy more times than any other model, met the six foot four hunk in 1998 and the pair soon became engaged. The model's publicist Roger Neal says, "After Strohmeyer quit his job he started living off of her and her highly successful website business - Petracentral.Com, which had five million hits per month. Strohmeyer convinced Verkiak to move in with him, and put him as a signer on her bank accounts. On 1 February 2000 Strohmeyer picked a fight with her and slammed her against the wall." The model says her lover then called the police, had her arrested for abuse and thrown in jail. Neal continues, "He then cleaned out her bank accounts, locked her out of their home and would not even let her have her bras, panties or baby pictures. She was left devastated and with nothing!" Petra says she rebuilt her website business and put the experience behind her - until her ex-fiance sued for half her earnings. Verkiak has counter-sued and the case hit court in Los Angeles Tuesday.
