  • Has written lyrics for a number of songs and artists, including two for his ex-wife Bonnie Raitt, one of which, "Longing in Their Hearts," won a Grammy for Raitt. The other song was from Raitt's "Luck of the Draw" album and was entitled "One Part be My Lover."
  • Tends to play athletes in movies: he's a basketball player in The Great Santini (1979), a golfer in Caddyshack (1980), a gymnast in Split Image (1982), and a baseball player in The Slugger's Wife (1985).
