Kurt Gerard was born Kurt Gerard Heinlein in Baltimore, MD. He was a track and field athlete who first found his way to the stage at St. Mary's College. After completing his MFA in Acting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), Gerard entered an eclectic performance career that has spanned commercials, commercial print, film, Broadway, tours, regional theatre, and stunt/combat work. In recent years he has turned educator, coordinating the heralded Acting Program at Missouri State University. Many of Gerard's former students have gone on to become notable forces in the theatre and film industries. Gerard unified his passion for performance with his dedication to environmental activism and penned the book "Green Theatre," a forerunner in works dedicated to using the arts to promote environmental education. He has also published "Evangeline Drowning," a play examining the loss of wetlands in south Louisiana. NPR dubbed Gerard "The Father of Green Theatre."
