Laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after The Vasilyev brothers (1990) and Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR.
Had 2 sons with his late wife Nadezhda Tolokonnikova - Innokentiy Tolokonnikov and Rodion Tolokonnikov (b. August 31, 1991).
Suffered from heart problems late in his life and died in the evening of July 15, 2017 from cardiac arrest in Moscow nearly 3 weeks after his 74th birthday.
