Bart Sumner was born in 1964 in New Jersey, USA. He is an actor, teacher, improviser, author, and screenwriter, known for Scrubs (2001), The Last Stop (2000), The Wayans Bros. (1995), and his book Healing Improv: A Journey Through Grief To Laughter (2014). He has been married to his wife Leslie since 1997. They have two children David (1999-2009) and Abby (2001-present).

      In 2005 won the Ohio Independent Film Festival's Best Voice of Color Screenplay for his as yet unproduced screenplay "Micheaux", a bio-pic about Oscar Micheaux, the first Black feature film maker and best selling author. In 2006 the script was named a Top 25 Semi Finalist, out of 1200 entries, in the American Screenwriter Association's 9th Annual International Screenwriting Competition.
