Shafiq Syed

Syed grew up in the slum of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, India. He comes to Bombay with some of the friends at his childhood and later years, he lived there as one of the pedestrians living on the pavement near Churchgate Railway Station. In 1988 he got a breakthrough in but the last on an Academy Award-nominated film "Salaam Bombay! (1988)" directed by Mira Nair. For the film, Syed won National Film Award for Best Child Artist at the 36th National Film Awards in 1989.
