Trivia

Kiran Shah

Edit
  • Was Elijah Wood's scale double in all three Lord of the Rings films.
  • Because of his overall diminutive size, versatility and willingness, Kiran Shah is in high demand as a prospective stuntman / double for long shots in action scenes.
  • Every film he has made with John Rhys-Davies has been nominated for Best Picture: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
  • Has played the character 'Tonga' (from the Sherlock Holmes novel "The Sign of the Four" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) in two dissimilar television films: The Sign of Four (1987) and The Crucifer of Blood (1991).
  • Has appeared in three Academy Award winners for Best Picture: Braveheart (1995), Titanic (1997) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). Bernard Hill also appeared in the latter two films.
  • Auditioned for the role of R2-D2 in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), narrowly losing out to Kenny Baker.
  • Worked as a tailor's apprentice for six months before seriously beginning his acting/stunt career.
  • He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours List for his services to the film industry. He is an actor, stuntman and scale double in London, England.
