John Scott
John Scott, a native of Longview, Alberta, has been a pioneering figure in the film and television industry for over five decades. As a world-renowned stunt coordinator, head wrangler, and animal trainer, he has contributed to more than 130 productions, including seven Academy Award-winning films: Days of Heaven (1978), Unforgiven (1992), Legends of the Fall (1994), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007), Shanghai Noon (2000), and The Revenant (2015).

As the founder of John Scott Productions, he has provided top-tier stunt coordination, horse wrangling, and western set design to major Hollywood productions. His expansive Alberta-based ranch has been a sought-after filming location, featuring in hit films and TV series such as Open Range (2003), Shanghai Noon (2000), Hell on Wheels (2011-2016), and Billy the Kid (2022-present). With over 150 productions shot on his land, Scott's authentic western landscapes, historical props, and expertly trained animals have helped bring cinematic stories to life.

A pioneer in the film industry, Scott has worked with legendary directors like Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, and Peter Jackson. John has trained A-list actors such as Brad Pitt, Robert Duvall, and Leonardo DiCaprio in horseback riding and stunt work. His expertise in safely executing high-risk action sequences has made him a go-to professional for large-scale productions all over the world.

In recognition of his lifelong contributions, Scott was inducted into the Canadian Stunt Hall of Fame in 2022. John has also received the Gene Autry Award in 2019 and at the Global Productions Awards in 2023, John was honored with recognition given to his standing sets on his property. His passion for preserving and promoting Alberta's stunning landscapes has played a pivotal role in bringing Hollywood productions to Canada, cementing his legacy as one of the film industry's most influential stunt coordinators and horse wranglers.
