Jeff Schubert was born and raised in New York City and currently lives in Los Angeles. He attended college at the University of Denver where he earned a BA degree in psychology. After a bad case of mononucleosis, Schubert decided to join a gym for the first time in his life. Feeling pretty good about his new developing physique, he responded to a modeling agency ad to make some money on the side. The agency also turned out to be a school that apparently believed everyone on the planet could be the next big thing.
Despite feeling humbled and exploited, Schubert decided to see it through. While there, an agency rep spotted Schubert's potential as an actor and referred him to an acting school run by Molli Benson. Schubert experienced an epiphany after his first class with Benson. Molli referred to Jeff as a diamond in the rough (and would later say Schubert was one of the three best actors she's ever trained). Jeff fell in love with the craft and his life plan changed in an instant. His plan went from pursuing an advanced degree in psychology and staying in Denver, to moving to Los Angeles after he graduated to pursue an acting career.
Having co-written his first screenplay while in Denver, (about college life in a fraternity), in LA, Schubert quickly realized, the more he could bring to the table as an artist the more opportunities he would get to work. While he feels there is a lot more to do, Schubert feels blessed to have been able to work as a writer, director, actor, host, stand-up comedian and producer.
Hosting the live web show Filmnut where he was able to interview above and below the line Oscar and Emmy talent was a great experience for Schubert that only enhanced his appreciation and respect for all of the elements involved in bringing a project to life.
