Ram frequently throws lavish parties to overcome this loneliness. This changes when Rajesh returns home, and he is able to convince Diwan also to return so that the three could live together. Shortly thereafter differences crop up between Rajesh and Diwan - initially on love and marriage; then on Caste issues; then the marriage of Rajesh, which is arranged with Diwan's friend, Thakur Janak Singh's daughter, Rukmani, while Rajesh wants to marry Monica. Things come to such a pass that Ram decides to leave, takes to women and alcohol in a big way, and becomes the subject of a big scandal. Ram returns home after Diwan and Rajesh apologize and agree to live together in harmony. This harmony does not last long as soon Ram finds out that his very own father and son had conspired against him in a charade to get him to return home just to avoid further scandal. Watch what Ram does this time when bitterness and acrimony reinstates itself in the Kapoor household.

When the family attempts to finalize a marriage date, they find out about Ratan's profession, which they frown upon, but are shocked to know that her father is in prison for murder.

Ratanlal Verma, a kind-hearted man, with a son named Prakash comes to Lakshman's rescue, is run over by a truck, and becomes a cripple. Kedarnath and Lakshman re-locate to Ratanlal's village, Raampur, and they live together as one family. Years later, Prakash has grown up, and has re-located to Bombay, where he finds employment with a jeweler. When Ratanlal does not hear from him for 2 months, they ask Lakshman to go to Bombay and ensure that Prakash is alright. Upon arrival in Bombay, Lakshman finds out that Prakash has been arrested by the Police for killing a man named Kundan Kumar, he is subsequently found guilty, and sentenced to be hanged. Lakshman takes it upon himself to find out who actually killed Kundan, and dons the guise of Louis D'Souza and gets himself enrolled in the Serpent Gang. What Lakshman does not know is that the leader of this gang is Kumar, who is none other than Ram, and when he finds out he must make a choice - either to save Prakash from the gallows or turn his very own brother in - to be hanged until death.

But a surprise awaits Vijay there when Gita arrives from Kashmir along with her brother, Pyarelal and a small child, she claims is Vijay's. Kamini manages to run away, this time weary of running into the cunning Raju, who she had fallen in love with, only to fall in the clutches of a criminal don by the name of Shankar, who not only has her necklace, which was bought from Raju, and plans to ensure that she is returned home. Kamini escapes again, only to run into Raju, who she now finds in the company of a woman named Roma and a child. Alone, and nowhere to turn to for help, Kamini must now decide whether to take her life or surrender to her uncle's wishes.

After his mom recovers, the Raja asks them to live with him in his palace. When Mohan and his mother insist that Shankar be re-called back, they find out that Shankar is dead, and that the person responsible for his death is none other than Raja himself. The police are involved, they arrest Raja and charge him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code - a charge that may lead to a death sentence. It is then that Mohan finds out that the Raja did not kill Shankar, and he races to overturn the judgment, as well as find the real killer, before the sentence is carried out.

Shankar gets into a scuffle with J.K. and his men, killing one of them, getting arrested, tried in Court, and being sentenced to 14 years in jail. Kanta passes away, while Dharam is left in the care of a wrestler, Bhim Singh, and a mid-wife, Ganga. Dharam is taught to be a hoodlum, but wants to focus on becoming a singer, while Ranjit has taken to alcohol, gambling, and a life of crime under J.K. himself. After his discharge, Shankar finds to his delight out that Ashok has brought up Ranjit and both are stage actors. Then his world descends into chaos when he finds out that Ranjit is in fact Dharam, while his very son, Ranjit has taken to a life of crime. Angered at Dharam, he beats him up and asks him to be a hoodlum like himself, he also beats up Ranjit and asks him to obey Ashok and follow in his footsteps. Watch as things spiral out of control when a vengeful J.K. abducts Shankar and holds him hostage - the ransom - the dead body of Ashok - at any and all costs - and the person chosen to carry out this task is none other than Dharam!!
