Barakamon tells the story of Handa Sei, an up and coming calligarapher, who acts impulsively and causes a commotion after being criticized for his submission in an exhibit. He is then sent to an island in order to reflect on his actions, and not known to him yet at the time, to show him something much more in life apart from the world of calligraphy.
From its first episode, to its very last, the series utilizes every moment to build upon a supportive community and characters brimming with personality. It revisits childhood innocence to those who seem to have been overcome with the responsibilities that comes with being an adult. Accompanied by beautiful and fitting music tracks for its opening (Rashisha by Super Beaver) and ending (Innocence by NoisyCell), Barakamon gives a feeling reminiscent of times filled with warmth, innocence, and calm.
This is an anime series that one can always come back to a few times to lift up spirits and reconnect with their youth.

I found this anime a long back but i really hesitated in watching it cuz i felt this wont be any good since there was nothing much to it with just 12 episodes,
but when i really watched i found it surprisingly good i felt like "Man this is lovely, why did i even hesitate".
This kept me smiling the whole time, Honestly my smile never went down after i got hooked.
There is no super natural touch in it, its a very plain story with a lot of fun.
It's a really good anime with a decent animation and a very lovable characters,
It has just 12 episodes, Go watch it, you wont be disappointed.
Want a break from an intense tv show like attack on titan? Then this is the show for you! Super casual, super adorable, totally worth your time!
The anime has a different charm puting the emphasis on the community life and the value it holds over an isolated individualilstic life. Naru herself puts a smile in us whenvever she comes . The characters are all so loving and adorable.
Plus you will get to seea different picture of rural life in Japan. It is fun and has so much to teach. Handa kun is a kid in an adult body but towards the end we find him maturing both in his caligraphy and in himself.
The synopsis of this anime is so simple but that's what got me hooked into it, it isn't a shallow school type of slice of life and neither at the end of track it isn't something that could break you and question your existence. A simple story not too complicated or deep and gives us themes about everyday life.
The story is so simple but wonderfully crafted. It doesn't have action, monsters blowing buildings apart or anything like that. In fact its the opposite since it is a slice of anime. Everything comes back connected to reality and at times when medium of most animes is filled with fictional writing it's sometimes relaxing to come back to something that feels grounded and realistic. I really liked the tone series gave off. The pacing is great and it starts off amazingly well right off the bat. It has a slight touch to the comedy nothing too exaggerated or coming off to hard. It is light hearted and has a few powerful touches to invoke some slightly strong emotions from the audience. Nothing too deep or has any associated acts with heavy themes. Just a friendly, heart warming, and a unique slice of life anime which was all I wanted. Relaxing at the same time a bit crazy.
The characters are nothing too extensive. They are all very likable and that's guaranteed. But at the same time we don't care deeply enough about them because at the end of the day we know they are all going to be fine since for one thing the show isn't depressing or is going to hit us with the grim side of reality but instead show the good side of it. And also we haven't gotten to know more about them. But all in all I think you will definitely like the characters in a short period of time. They are all different from one another and have their own unique quirks.
The music is wonderfully constructed. And it has unique character designs no characters looked like a copy and paste of one another. The landscapes in some of the scenes just give me a peace of silence. It really uplifted my mood. The intros and outros are both great. Unlike most of the animes I watch where I skip the intro to get to the episode often, the intro of this anime is just so watchable and gets you into the right feels.
The rewatch value is a mixed bag. Its such a short anime series only 12 eps. But t might get a bit repetitive and boring for some people after a while but seriously it's like a short therapy session just watching a single ep just made me smile and be happy.
Overall quiet an enjoyable series.
