this is a very smart, well-acted short film. It's hard to believe that it was shot in only 48 hours. Two cameras, real-time long takes edited into a split screen. Sure, it's been done before but the films in the past who have tried it come across with a shallow and flakey tone. The actors in this film really help pull off the dramatic tone that the director was going for. Very well done. The split screen was not a gimmick in this film. It is open to interpretation but one theme can be that the nature of the characters relationship, the worlds are split by the DUI accident. The ending is perfect, no happy "fake" Hollywood ending here, just real life stuff.
The audience was mesmerized by this thought provoking, well acted, out of the box film. It was shot as a "long take", the director totally in control and guiding the cast to bring out their emotions to the point I was in tears as I watched these two woman deal with a situation that had devastated their lives. This short film tells a story in 8 minutes, the actors develop their character, bring us into their lives and we feel the pain and regret they are experiencing. The split screen allows us to watch the emotions each woman is feeling simultaneously. The director's style brings forth memories of some of Alfred Hitchcock's better works and the modern day style of Quentin Tarantino. The musical score was understated so as to not overpower the intensity of the film or divert your attention from the powerful emotions of the characters.
