With Sach, noted director Vinod Pande completed his trilogy of extramarital affairs starting with Ek Baar Phir (1980) and Yeh Nazdeekiyan (1982). Sach was sensitive and mature handling of the illicit relationship between the lead pair. Just like his previous two movies.
Raj Kumar (Vinod Pande) and Hansa Paranjpe (Anuradha Sawant) are middle aged lovers who secretly meet in a hotel to spend time with each other. Raj Kumar is a newspaper editor going through a mid life crisis while the pretty Hansa is a victim of abusive husband (Hashmat Khan) whom she has divorced.
Raj and Hansa's love affair has remained a secret till now. One night they witness a murder in the next room of their hotel. Raj finds out the murderer is an influential guy and wants to testify in court. But he can't do that as it will mean exposing his own affair plus tarnishing Hansa's name. Will he still do that? What is Hansa's stand? Will the murderer leave them alone?
Vinod Pande chose to cast himself in the lead role instead of stars with the pretty Anuradha Sawant opposite him. For him, the content was king. And rightly so!!
The films USP is the chemistry between the two actors and the love making scenes have an authentic feel. Anuradha looks absolutely gorgeous and I wonder why her career didnt really take off. A young Raju Srivastava turns up in a non comical role. The ending is bold enough for you to take notice.
Sach is a film which is not available on any OTT platform (I think there is a non HD print on Youtube). I had purchased its vcd in the 2000s and liked the movie for its realism and unpretentious approach. Catch it if you can!!

It came as a pleasant surprise as I just got this movie from the video store not knowing anything about it. A good watch for people who prefer some meaningful cinema over masala.
Finally Anuradha herself comes to the court and reveals that herself and Vinod love each other thus putting all rumours and speculations to rest and accepting her relation in public . A bold fine drama . Devoid of glamour , the main characters are shown to be middle aged with grey hair and heavy midriff showing. A very realistic story of its times.

- QuizTinnu Anand attempted to buy the film title "Sach " from Vinod Pande. Vinod refused continuously. Tinnu wanted the title for his film "Main Azaad Hoon".
