Marvel Rea will inherit a lot of money if she has a husband by the time she is eighteen, so Frank Coleman kidnaps her before she can get married and so she can sing in his saloon. Can Sid Smith and Jimmy Adams rescue her?
That's the plot of this Jack White comedy, the third he directed and produced for Educational Pictures, and it doesn't matter. It's all about good gags expertly performed at a high enough speed to cover the dull stretches. Which they do. None of the performers here would become stars of comedy, as would other comics who turned out vehicles for White. At this stage they lacked individuality. That would come with comics like Lupino Lane and Lloyd Hamilton. Jack White would be the Boy Wonder of Comedy for ten years as a result.
This one got the job done, with some clever lines and situations. It also went missing for eighty years. It survived in a Pathex 9.5 mm. cut-down and Ben Model has included it on his fourth (yes, he's up to four) ACCIDENTALLY PRESERVED DVD, along with seven other MIA movies, all accompanied by Ben. Why aren't you ordering a copy?
