Arletty 's precedent effort (Carné's "La Fleur De l' Age " )died on the vine;only a documentary ("Carnet (sic) De Naufrage ") remains today ,as for the minutes of the movie which were edited,nobody knows where they are now...

Arletty about the (impossible,in every sense of the term) follow-up to "Les Enfants Du Paradis ":restful ,conventional as you'll never know...I had to resume my career;a great laugh this De Laroche ,a young handsome producer who had seduced (Jean ) Genêt (the gay writer and good friend with the actress)who wanted to have it off with him (but did not succeed)."

As for the movie itself,I have nothing to add to Happy Trigger's review.

For lack of money ,the movie,filmed on the Riviera , was not theatrically released ;it had been considered lost till reels were found in the film archives of Porto Vecchio (Corsica) in 1987 where it was shown for the first time.

Invisible for decades, the first movie with Arletty after her two years of forced inactivity (after the "epuration") gets released on dvd. And it's not a great jewel, Arletty doesn't appear very much and her dialogues aren't explosive. The director and screenwriter Serge Laroche is an amateur, his plot is confused and his direction is flat and uninventive. In fact, it's his only movie and it is the opposite of Arletty's previous movie, Les Enfants Du Paradis, which is a gigantic unforgettable masterpiece whereas this one is a completely minor nanar (except for Arletty's fans completists). If you enjoy french songs, Pierre Dudan is fine.

But it remains a great surprise for the kids who played with Arletty 70 years ago in Mouans Sartoux and discover it only now.
