I fratelli del vento

A story about an old man who rescues five wolf cubs from their den, when he finds that their mother wolf has been shot and killed by hunters in an aeroplane. I must have only been about 7 or 8 years old, the first time I watched this film, we had a recorded copy of this film from the TV, but I don't know whatever happened to it. This film was amazing and I would love to be able to buy it on DVD. Remember the raccoon family trying to cross the river? or the four wolf cubs learning to catch fish? This film will make you laugh and cry, especially at the end when the four wolf cubs come back to rescue the old man from a grizzly bear. This is without a doubt, a totally wonderful film!

This is by far the most beautiful film I've ever seen and I have loved it since I was about 4 years old. I've watched it countless times, as has my younger brother. The story about the old man who saves and takes care of 4 little wolves is so touching, and it is beautifully filmed. I also love the title song (unfortunately I don't know who sung it) and the music in general. I wish I could let my children, if I ever have any, see this kind of films instead of today's fast-paced and generally rather stupid children's stories. This film tells about love - love of nature, love of other living beings - in a way that is quiet and subtle, but still finds its way straight into you heart.

I REALLY hope someone decides to re-publish Brother of the Wind - it has so much to give and we need this kind of films, even today!

ADDITION made May 28 2008: I HAVE IT ON DVD!!!!!!

It's a transfer from a video tape, originally recorded from TV some 15 years back, but considering that the quality is surprisingly good, with steady picture and sound. It's subtitled in Swedish (not removable).

I saw this movie on television years ago and I have never forgotten it. It was a beautiful story of a man in Alaska and his love for wolves. I remember how "hunters", if you can call them that, flew over in airplanes shooting down the wolves. Unfortunately, this film seems to be unavailable at this time.

This film set the tone for philosophy and outlook for many of the generation that saw this film. Very inspirational. A movie I'll never forget. If you're looking for a "fluff" movie, or a "no-brainer", this is not the movie for you on this day. However, if you are looking for a movie that will inspire you to think, look at the universe in a different way, and stretch your spirit, this one is definitely right up there.

The music sets your spirit soaring, and the theme song has stayed with me for over 30 years now. On the days I'm feeling seriously tied down or bogged down, I think of this song and I remember to take some time to re-connect with that part of myself.

I would love to see this movie come to DVD or VHS.

Brother of the Wind has stayed with my mother and me all these years. Since the www has come, it has been at least a once a week entry in our search bar. Finally, I have acquired a 16mm full length movie theater version of it. Can't wait to watch this with my wife and three sons as well as their grandmother. Only if I get copyright release I will offer a few on e-bay or craigslist for price of blank DVD & shipping.
