Filming began in late 2012 with
Evan Rachel Wood in the lead, but production was halted a few weeks later with around of a third of the film completed. Filming was scheduled to resume in fall 2013, and a trailer was released in August 2013 to find new investors, but production never resumed. The reasons for pausing the film vary. The production company says it was to accommodate Wood's pregnancy, while other sources say the production suffered from financial problems, and Wood says she stopped working on the film because the producers stopped paying her. In 2014, the producers sued Wood for $30 million for leaving the film; Wood's lawyers dismissed the suit as "preposterous".
