Tries to be a lot of things, but doesn't quite succeed at any of them

Umay Shahab's directorial debut, 'Kukira Kau Rumah,' tries to be a lot of things, but doesn't quite succeed at any of them. Most of its conflicts and characters are underdeveloped with the slow-burn pacing drags, making it rather difficult to relate to or become attached to the whole story. There's no denying the two leads are attractive, but they're either stuck in the muck of this uninspired material, or lack the chemistry to elevate it.

A Slightly Boring Movie

As his directorial debut, I think a 6 rating is enough to give to Umay. The director dared to make a film with a theme related to mental health (Bipolar Disorder), but unfortunately it was not explained in detail why the main character had bipolar disorder. The storyline of this film also is too rushed and displays too many songs/singings. In addition, this film puts more emphasis on "love" rather than "bipolar disorder". It would be better if the director could focus more on "bipolar disorder" rather than love stories that have been found in many Indonesian films.

Just make band instead making movie

80% music, 20% story. Too much music, I don't enjoy the story. If I want to enjoy music I would just open Spotify instead go to cinema to watching this movie.

The Whole Movie Is Just Trash, This Movie Is Not About Mental Health, Its More Romantic & Love Story, If Its Not Because Of Prilly's Acting, This Movie Is Nothing.

The only saving grace is the music

The story was okay. It's a typical love story i guess. Just with a twist of bipolar character in the mix. The pacing is quite slow for me. Each characters doesn't have enough background story for the viewer to care about and doesn't develop much.

Ending was meh and unbelievable. Only enjoy the songs in this movie.

If youre looking for a movie to watch without needing to think or just to burn time, this is the movie for you. Thankfully the movie is not that long though.

Overall, its an average movie with a good song. Ive read somewhere this is this directors first movie. Hopefully the next one will be better.
