Daniela Andrade: Genesis

A small watchlist with director Jeremy Comte's acclaimed short film "Fauve" got me in this Daniela Andrade music video, repeating their partnership from another video. Didn't know anything about the artist, her music and what it was and I let it all out, and forming an impression as I went along. There's a bit of a monologue spoken in Spanish (where it seems there'll be a story) than the pop music begins with images from Mexico, common people, events in the small village, lots of dancing and choreographies with masked fighters (kind of funny looking). It's a fine video, very well-photographed but doesn't stick much to the memory, neither the song (average at best) nor the clip. Yet here's a masterful example of how to make music promos for artists without spending too much with actors, or having the super appeal of throwing sexuality at all times or just creating another boring musical performance. It's different from the usual clips out there, so it'll have some good audience for it, or ones who'll enjoy it more than I did. Still gets a thumbs up from me. 7/10
