'SENTRY (2022)' is a sci-fi short film in which a pair of men find themselves locked in a tense long-range gun fight. The cinematography is crisp and the special effects are really convincing. Plus, the action is staged well and there's a fair bit of tension built up over a small amount of time. The piece is short, sharp and to the point, but it ultimately feels a little empty. Don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable enough for what it is, but it just feels as though it's lacking a bit of punch. Perhaps that's because the story is very thin, or perhaps its because the ending has an odd pace to it that undercuts its impact (if literally one shot was trimmed a little, the ending would work much better). Still, it's an entertaining and well-achieved effort overall.
