Moving In

A couple of newlyweds are on their honeymoon. To help them, their friends get together and decide to help move the couple in to their new home. However, instead of making the home livable, they end up destroying everything. And, when the groom arrives home and is angry, the 'helpers' get angry and tell off the young couple.

While seeing the home destroyed, the film really made no sense. First, you couldn't intentionally destroy a home any worse. Second, to yell at the couple for not appreciating this...is simply stupid and nonsensical. Overall, an okay Joe Penner short but also one that has no depth and often makes no sense at all.

When the newlyweds consider the problems of unpacking, they are heartened when the family comes over to help out. Unfortunately, the help consists largely of muddled Joe Penner and bratty child actor Jackie Kelk.

Ths two-reel comedy suffers a good deal from its slow pace ad overlong set-ups to gags of pure destructio. Star Joe Penner was a popular radio comedian of the era, whose dim-witted delivery of sense-free catchphrases like "Wanna buy a duck?" appealed to the audience. Some of his characteristics were incorporated into the Loony Tunes character "Egghead" who evolved into Elmer Fudd. Penner died in. 1941 at the age of 36.
