Inside the Freemasons: The Grand Lodge Uncovered

If there were a way to give this a negative number, I would. A 1 is too generous.

It is not a movie, it is a documentary. However, it is a documentary with absolutely zero facts.

It is all interviews with people who had to either have never been in any Masonic organization or was kicked out and they are angry, or perhaps they tried to join and were rejected. I come from a family who has been in a variety of Masonic organizations. DeMolay, Job's Daughters, Masons, and Shriners.

It is laughable to call them secret societies because they are open and honest about their existence. They give tours through the Grand Lodge or any other lodge with pride. Each has a small book called a Ritual which basically has their procedures for initiation into the group, but that is the extent of their secrecy. They donate time or raise funds for such projects as restoring the Statue of Liberty. Oh the horror.

Throw in that the Shriners are loved everywhere and are some of the most giving people on the planet. You must be in the Masons before you become a Shriner. So, it seems that you are a horrible, evil person in order to become a wonderful, world respected person in the minds of the ignorant.

Do not waste your time with this mockumentary. If you want to know about the Masons, Eastern Star, etc., ask them. They are happy to share. Want to tour a Masonic Lodge. Look them up in the phone book and give them a call. They are open throughout the week...not so secret, are they? There is no mystery.

Claims like those in this garbage film come from ignorance or hatred, and have nothing to do with facts.

Calling this a documentary or a movie is a very far fetched idea. It is just a long interview. The information you get from it is very interesting and as far as John Hamil goes he's done a great job, coming off as intelligent and providing accurate and good information about Freemasons, what they are about and how they relate to history.

The main reason for the low grade is Karen, the person taking the interview. She comes off as really stupid and totally out of place. She doesn't seem to have any idea or plan about what questions to ask, repeating the same questions at times which are generally dumb and uninspired. She also claims to be an artist but clearly has no cultural background whatsoever. It's as if they hired someone off the street, gave them a microphone and had them ask questions.

Also, the camera work, editing and sound are just appalling, most of it is filmed from tripod and you often see the camera shake as the operator picks it up to pan around.. really amateur in general.

Conclusion: Could have been a very nice interview, but the interviewer and camera work just stank. Worth watching for the info, just ignore everything else if you can.
