2020 Year of the Nurse

This was a wonderful way to pay tribute to nurses around the world. Robyn Roots film had amazing testimonials and examples of what nurses endured during the pandemic. Nurses were on the frontline during the pandemic. They risked their lives so that patients would have everything they needed to recover. It was very emotional for me because I am a nurse assistant. I work alongside many nurses and I wanted to give up everyday but I couldn't. The hospitals were overflowing. Urgent care centers had 4-6 hour waits. The world had come to a stop. However nurses never missed a beat. We appreciate our nurses. Thank you for this film Robyn Roots.

This documentary is poignant. The stories shared resonated with me, and I'm sure those nurses who worked during this difficult time of the COVID pandemic. This film shares the lived experiences we shared, the barriers to safe care, the lack of equipment, the uncertainty of transmission, the sacrifices nurses made the isolation, the fear, and their resilence. Robyn Roots, the crew and the nurses found a way to put faces to those who shared what we nurses endured. The acknowledgement of mental stress, PTSD, anxiety and depression is paramount. The nurses continued caring for clients even in the face of blatant racism and bias. This is monumental work.
