Avis à la une
In the opening scene we see a wall that is being torn down by some soldiers manually, brick by brick. As the light begins to get into a room we see a man with cigar who seems to be waiting for something. Then his brought to a burned house where soldiers have moved in. With disappearance of one of the soldiers, Sivi (Grey),unexpected things begin to occur.
This movie isn't best Serbian movie, it isn't great movie, it even isn't best Dejan Zecevic's movie, but it is a good movie. Acting is very good and scenery really reflects the movie's gloomy atmosphere. What I really loved about this film is a story. If you're looking for a fright you won't get them here, but if you want to watch a good thriller, this movie will give you some chills and get you thinking.
All in all, I recommend this movie for everyone who loves well made thriller with good written story.

The Hard Truth - that I would call it... Real truth of life. There's a bit of Devil and a bit of God in everyone of us. Watch it - think of the real Enemy. The only movie in the last ten years for which I am sorry that I have not watched on the big cinema screen!!! Spooky, mind blowing, horror and a thriller, with a little bit of psychological drama - just not to take viewers for granted. Zecevic gives us first-class blockbuster. What is the meaning of life? Do we exist? How does God look like? What is the Devil? Is there a God? And all that happens around a small group of Serbian military de-miners working on fresh minefield in the center of an even more fresher PEACE :)
Set in first days of truce of Bosnian war, movie follows group of Bosnian Serbs Army who encounter a strange man locked behind the wall in abandoned factory. Soon after they release him, a member of Bosnian army informs them that they made a terrible mistake and that they set Satan himself free. Soon after, problems and conflicts between them start to arise.
Set in winter, with its black and white photography, slow pace film successfully creates a true thriller movie atmosphere.
Strongest part of the movie is story and directing. While being interesting, captivating, tense and symbolic, film explores human nature among the people in state of war, conflict, fear and desire to be safe in the never ending debate: What is source of evil deeds: A human nature or gods and demons?
Acting is generally good, with three main actors portraying Cole (Aleksandar Stojkovic), Caki (Vuk Kostic) and Daba (Tihomir Stanic) being the best ones. Their portrayal made their characters really layered and well rounded. However, some other characters have moments when they appear a bit sloppy, sometime it's a fault of an actor and sometime it's a fault of weaker script. Even though a story is really good, script is weakest point of the film, especially dialogues which sometime come out as forced and artificial. But dialogues are weakest points of many other Balkan movies.
In conclusion: I recommend this film to everyone who likes to watch tense and thriller movie with such interesting themes like human nature and their beliefs.

gray, powerful, slow. a film about ashes of war. about the traces of memories and need to escape from yourself. a bitter exercise of reconciliation with the past. it is not the only from ex-Yugoslav cinema but it is meritorious for the science to present the realities of a world in change. that does it not only an admirable movie but a profound , touching testimony. not only about post-war Bosnia but for the way of survive in East. it is a film who must see it not for individual experiences or for the acting. but for a more clear image about a period and for to define existence not exactly as adventure or passing. and, sure, the basic motif - it could not be an American heroic blockbuster.
This movie, this is an amazing story of essence of life, present ending of human evolution and Introduction to the end of the world as we know. This is not just a war movie, or local story. This is an universal story of the end of the human race. We have released the Evel and we are done on this planet. Not to mention excellent cast, actors who are brilliant in a specific and for some, completely new roles, and scene, Scenography, light, environment, camera... the overall atmosphere... Sound and ... all !!! The quality of acting was amazing. Transformation of characters and impressions of symbols... My God, this is an excellent Movie! I was breathless during the entire projection. The movie has not only psychological, but physical impact on me as a simple viewer.
I salute Mr. Zecevic and the cast! Brilliant!

- AnecdotesMan that was locked and later found is considered to be a Satan by people who locked him. His name is Daba with nickname "Limping Daba". Interesting fact is that old Slavic god Dazbog was also called "Limping Daba" and he was god of war. After the rise of Christianity, god Dazbog (or Limping Daba) was personified with Satan and was considered "A prince on Earth" and God's main enemy. This is symbolic way to show that character Daba was really Satan himself.
- GaffesBeginning of the movie. Crew is removing mines that were set in that field approx 2 years ago, but the grass is low cut in that field. It hasn't grown more than few centimeters in those two years.
