Anecdotes
The original title for the script was 'Fuck Buddies' but this wouldn't make it past the MPAA. It was changed to "Friends With Benefits", but then that title was changed because there was another movie with the same title, Sexe entre amis (2011), starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. By the time pre-screening invitations were made, it had still not been decided whether the title would be Sex Friends (2011) or Hooking Up.

Gaffes
When Emma is carrying the two cups of coffee to the car after running into Adam, she carries them like they are empty, not accounting for the coffee inside. If there was coffee in either one, it would have spilled everywhere.

Great fun date flic!

This movie has a typical romantic comedy plot but honestly, the only variables in all romantic comedies are characters and script dialogue.

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher do a great job of exhibiting chemistry and getting the audience to hope the two of them into a happily ever after denouement.

They're both beautiful and appealing to a lot of people. Their performances are a great combination of crack up laughter and heart felt longing.

The dialogue is witty and somewhat vulgar in certain instances that makes for a fun time whether you're out with your friends or on a date.
