Sadayam (1992) :
Brief Review -
A Sibi Malayil Classic that finds the most compatible way to deal with complicated themes like depression, psychic reaction and outburst against grisly crimes. Sadayam can be viewed by two points of views. One is accepting the simple theories of human reactions even if they are gruesome and paranoid sometimes and second is understanding the darkness and depression behind the character which expresses too much with the help of artistic framework. These things aren't that easy to understand for mass lovers but the first one is still fairly understandable for any kind of Audience. The main reason behind this is, the increasing crime rate of the society, especially with those helpless and poor people who are forced into immoral business by the extreme nature of their poor conditions. Sadayam deals with the same issue but presents it from the point of view of a good man. The one who has been bullied once in childhood but has overcome now and is doing well but meets the past again which is heading towards a future. I know it sounds complicated even while reading it but you have to put your brain at work for some time. Sadayam follows the final days of a condemned prisoner, for murdering two little girls and two men and the how it affects his jail life as well people's thinking about him. Mohanlal plays Satya very convincingly. His character is full of varities and he does not compromise while excelling all those different shades. Watch out for that Psycho Act scene. Mathu as Jaya is splendid even though i had some issues with the writing of her character. The supporting cast is fine, dialogues are good, cinematography is superb, technical support is praiseworthy and Sibi sir's direction is on point. Trying hands in such theme is a great thing already and then he delivered a Classic. Big Victory.

What a fine crafted masterpiece is this, no words can explain this. This movie is a pure 2 and half hours gripping screenplay to watch of which every second will keep your eyes stuck to the screen with sometimes moist and sometimes wide opened with the exceptional brilliance of Mohan Lal.
It's very difficult to believe that this is a story of imagination.
Every character is brilliantly executed and it would be an injustice to highlight few names but can't help myself without mentioning about Lalettn's acting. He has been so natural with his acting he has literally lived the character.
This Movie will leave a mark in your heart and mind and will keep you pondering for a while.
This Cinema truly belongs to the Golden Era of Malayalam cinemas.
Brilliant direction and brilliantly executed Masterpiece.

Only MT could have thought of such a complicated story line. It takes you to a whole new experience.
The characters compete with each other in perfection. But its Lal who is at its best again. The movie takes you to the million dollar question on Death penalty and the judicial system. Thilakan had a very different role as the victims father. And and him taking a very different approach towards the end.
The back ground music complements the movies theme gracefully. This is one movie which you need to see in one go waiting for each scene to unfold. You will!!
