Avis à la une
This is one of the best 80's haunted house flicks. Several teenagers decide to throw a party at a funeral home and before you know it all but two are possessed and chasing the only two good teens left trying to kill them. Great acting, special effects, direction and one liners. Linnea Quigley is great. Cathy Podwell is not bad either.See the unrated version if you have to choose between the two. Recommended.
Tenney must have taken notes and memorized the Evil Dead movies because he comes out of the box with a scary high camp bit of cinema. I rented this one expecting to laugh, or scorn... but ended up genuinely horrified. Night of the Demons appeals on all fronts... ;) As a woman of sound mind and character, I am not ashamed of admitting to a bunch of strangers that this piece of shlock scared the livin' bejaysus out of me.
The acting was cheesy, the make-up and hair were too excessive, the plot was mindless, and the music was funky, but hey - it was the 1980s.
This is another 80s horror flick- about ten teenagers who party at an abandoned funeral parlor on Halloween night. They encounter a demonic force, and they turn the teenage kids' party into a living nightmare. What results are some more of the usual screams, chases, and gore.
The creatures were quite creepy as a matter of fact and will give you some nice scares. Not much of a plot to the movie - just lots of running and screaming, but it's mindless horror fun for Halloween, so don't take this movie too seriously.
Grade B-

Night of the Demons is a good movie. It's fast-paced and gory. Linnea Quigley does a marvelous disappearing act with a tube of lipstick. The soundtrack was cool but it would have been better if they had some Samhain on it. The ending is awesome.

This movie is fun to watch with a bunch of friends. It's silly, and the acting is over the top, but it's fun. The story is simple with ten teens throwing a party in a demon infested mortuary. Quigley was so funny. I wasn't at all sorry for most of the people who died. There were so annoying, that's the whole point of this film to get a few scares, have fun, and see some alright nudity.
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesDuring an interview, Linnea Quigley was asked if she had ever been in an audience of fans and just watched their reactions to one of her films. She replied: "I have and it's really fun. Actually, when I first saw Night of the Demons, I went to see it in a drive-in and it was really a great experience, except I forgot that the first scene I filmed was my bare butt bending over, and it was up on the screen really big, and I was like 'Oh God, no' and a little embarrassed."
- Gaffes(at around 10 mins) In the convenience store, the repeated sounds from the arcade machine are actually from the Atari 2600 home version of Pac Pac (1980).
- Versions alternativesAn "Unrated" version is available on videocassette and DVD in the United States. The following scenes included in the unrated version were cut from the theatrical release to earn an MPAA rating of "R" rather than an "X":
- The scene in which Angela bites off Stooge's tongue is a few seconds longer with a little bit more blood.
- When Suzanne gouges out Jay's eyes, the shot lingers slightly longer, exposing more gore.
- The close up shot of the razor blade ripping from the old man's throat is slightly extended with more gore. Additional scenes, cut from the R-rated version for content or running time, include:
- In the convenience store scene at the beginning of the unrated version, Linnea Quigley's character asks the two male clerks if they have "Sour Balls". In the R rated version, she simply walks past them, and out of the store.
- In the unrated version, the party scene is a little longer with more exposition.
- There are substantially more shots of Angela floating through the hallway.
- For reasons still unknown, the giant demon head that appears over Hull House at the end of the film has animated glowing red eyes in the unrated version, but does not in the R-rated theatrical cut.
